About Me
I think Dr Evil put it best when he said, "The details of my life are quite inconsequential... Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year- old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds... pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian woman named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking. I suggest you try it."

Here's my DJ Bio:
Jayvi Velasco began mixing records in early 1991. By the summer of that year Jayvi had purchased 2 turntables, a mixer & 2 crates of records (most of which were House). Jayvi was inspired early in his career by the likes of Masters At Work, Tony Humphries, Frankie Knuckles, Pete Avila, DJ EFX, DJ Digit, Blackstone, Jeno, Spun, Carlos & all the other usual suspects that were big in the early 90s SF dance scene. Not to mention his mentors Jomar & Jorge Terez.
Since the early 90s Jayvi Velasco has played at literally hundreds of events all over California ranging from clubs, undergrounds, massive raves, boat parties, house parties, loft parties, renegade beach parties, one-offs etc Jayvi was also part of the Meow Entertainment DJ tour of Asia/Philippines in 2005. Here is a short listing of the more notable venues/parties that Jayvi has made appearances or has been a resident DJ: Remedy (DNA Lounge & Ruby Skye, SF); Organic/Whisteria (Ibiza Hotel, Oakland); Metropolis (Santa Clara County Fairgrounds); Future Friday (Maritime Hall, SF); Foxy (Cardiff Lounge, Campbell); Life (Usual, San Jose); Sinners In Heaven (Forum, Sunnyvale); Echo Bay Boat Party (SF Bay); 550 Barneveld, SF; Suite 181, SF; Home Base, Oakland; Sound Factory, SF; Conga Room, LA; Larchmont, LA and the list goes on. To expand his musical and technical knowledge, Jayvi earned a degree in Recording Arts/Sound Engineering. Which included the study of music theory, midi composition/production, studio recording/engineering, sound reinforcement, acoustics & music business. He has also worked in radio producing commercial spots for KYLD in San Francisco. While having produced his own projects, remixes and re-edits, Jayvi plans to fully delve in to the role as producer/remixer.
Smooth and seamless are probably the two words that best describe the way Jayvi mixes his selection of deep, sexy, jazzy, soulful, funky, Afro/Latin-tinged vocal House music. Through years of consistently playing parties and passing out hundreds of demos, Jayvi Velasco has built a very loyal following of music lovers that truly appreciate the spiritual journey they are taken on when he is behind the decks. These music lovers spoke their minds by voting Jayvi into the top 30 of nitevibe.com's 2006 SF DJ Dream Team.
"To me hes more then a DJ, Jayvi knows exactly what we(dancers) want!! Setting the energy, feeding the vibe.
