Band Members: The Van Dyke Revue is a band from Buchanan Michigan that plays what we like to call Eclectic Music from the Heart & Soul. The core of the band consists of the father and son team of John and Dave VanDyke who’ve been making music together for a long time for obvious reasons. With addition of drummer Kurt Allsop in 2007 and most recently bassist Kevin Healey, the band is one of the most versatile around. The band’s claim to fame is that it boasts they will play for any audience and play songs from most any genre. And they do! Besides the regular bar and lounge activities, The Van Dyke Revue is well equipped and ideal for weddings, outdoor concerts, work parties, kid’s shows and more! This year promises to be all of that. With the release of their debut CD and summer just around the corner, more shows and events are sure to come.

"Take Us Home"
by The Van Dyke Revue was written in support of the Ron Paul campaign. Please check out our Blog for Lyrics and Commentary by Dave Van Dyke

Ain't going to San Francisco
Ain't going to Ohio
If you ain't got no money
You're kicked off this rodeo

Bonnie's on the floor with Jackson
But John's still in Centerfield
You ain't no horseback rider
You're just a windshield

Ron don't love your mamma
Ron sure ain't your pa
Ron don't buy your bull....
Ron's your tragic fall

I ain't looking for Christmas
Ain't no fountain of youth
Don't need no salvation
Just gimme some truth

Ready for the slow train a' comin'
Ready for the judgment day
Ready for January
Ready for you to go away

Go back to your constitution
Go back to your church of Rome
Abandon no hope who enter
Cause the doctor's gonna take us home

Take us home
Take us home
Take us home

"We May Be Simple"
Sittin' on the blanket with the breeze blowin' by
Hands clasped, eyes up to the sky
I'll always remember the day that we met
It's the one thing I'll never forget

(chorus)
'Cause
We May be Simple
we may never be great
Just remember its not what you have
but its what you create

Twelve years lost
Don't know where its gone by
Asked you to marry me
and you gave your best reply

You're the best thing that I could ever be
I don't know 'bout Jesus
but I know you set me free

(chorus)

"Lucky U"
Gonna tell you a tale
Gonna tell you a tale
About a girl I once knew
She was stray dog in the moonlight
And she howled up a brew
She'd cry up a storm and then
kill you with her eyes
Squeeze you real tight
with those alabaster thighs
Get lost in so many little lies its true

(chorus)
She'd say "Lucky You!"
What can you do?
Look at the hell
She put me through

I never met her in Fresno
Albuquerque, or San Jose
This was way beack in the seventies
When disco was still gay

The Beatles were comin' back soon
and Reagan was a joke
there was nothin' wrong with a little bit of smoke
We made love under a swamp chestnut oak, it's true

(chorus)
She'd say "Lucky You!"
What can you do?
Are you high on crazy glue?

I still see her sometimes
And I'm glad she got fat
She married a failure
She's got four kids and a cat

We never went to Europe
and we never said "goodbye"
I hung out with a midget
and wrote this battle cry
She kept her soul together
and left me high and dry
its true

(chorus)
And she said, "Lucky you!"
What can you do?
Get a laser on this tattoo...
Sit in a leaky, old canoe....
When she's wet, she looks like Shamu ....
Get in the ring with a kangaroo...
What other things can you misconstrue?
Move away to Katmandu...
She looks awful in royal blue....
I really hope
she gets the flu....
Oh yeah
