About Me
The music on this page is not representative of the music I’ll make when I get the proper equipment to record my music. The crudely recorded music on this page is cut from recordings of me jamming, making up the lyrics and guitar as I went along, then I improvised the lead guitar over it. I’m not trying to gain support yet as I haven’t yet made an album, I’ll be making one soon.My name is Glen James Stephenson and I live in Northern Ireland. I got into music at a very young age, I was 7 years old when I got a keyboard for Christmas and I learned to create my own music with it. When I was about 14 years old I picked up my dad’s guitar, he taught me a few chords that he knew and I taught myself the rest over years. I began writing my own songs when I was skilled enough on the guitar and I would play them to my friends and family every time I wrote new stuff. At this time I was working after school in a very successful recording studio, I worked there full-time when I left school and I learned vast amounts about music while working there.I’ve always wrote songs with my guitar, even though my life got quite chaotic as I grew up. I left home at 16 years old and for a year and half I lived in hostels in Belfast until I had enough of being broke and joined the army. I was only a kid, I didn’t understand what I was joining as most don’t when they’re that young. I went to the South of England where I spent the next couple of years. I was Medically Discharged at age 19 (with fractured shins from carrying heavy weight on long runs) and I came home to Northern Ireland, only to get myself heavily into drugs. The drug world brought me hell that I don’t even want to write about, but I’ll tell you that after going through more hell to quit them, I’m off everything now and have been for some time.I kept writing songs throughout, in my life I’ve written hundreds, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added up to over a thousand but I didn’t keep most of them, some I lost through house moves, some through travelling a lot (I’ve lived in lots of different parts of Northern Ireland and quite a few different places in England,) quite a lot that I wrote for my rock band (which I had when I was about 21) were in a flat I had when I wrecked it in a drug-induced rage and it got cleared out by the landlord, the rest of the songs that I still had I threw out after deciding on a complete fresh start with my music when leaving the drug world behind. The songs were lyrically reminiscent of that world that I want nothing more to do with. I’ve found that it was worth it, I’ve got a lot of new music now and the lyrics have improved dramatically. My favourite music is guitar-based, especially rock and rhythm ‘n’ blues but I enjoy all music styles, and I mean ALL styles, there’s no music I don’t like when it’s at it’s best, I mean I’ve even heard jazz that I liked! That’s saying something! As well as the guitar based styles I’ve also written rap, R&B, club, dance and trance music just because I love music so much, I even arranged some classical pieces on a studio just for the enjoyment of making a new style. So it’s safe to say I really enjoy creating music, what I hope to do for my album is combine some of the styles of music that I love to make something unique and original, something that is full of different instruments and which gives a lot of melody to your ear when you’re listening. So right now, while I save for the proper recording equipment I’m always writing songs on my guitar.
