Greg Poulos has been playing guitar professionally for over 42 years. Some of the many bands Greg has played in are: The Crystal Pain, The Bits of Difference, The Roulettes, Lebo Nash, Pork and Beans, The Poulos Ramsey Band, the Anderson Poulos Band, Rock Bottom, Sarasota Slim, Dan Electro and the Silvertones, and currently, the Venturas. In 1976 Greg spent a year playing and touring as Freddie King's rhythm player. During this time Greg met and sometimes shared the stage with blues luminaries such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Albert King, Willie Dixon, Albert Collins, and Bobby Bland--as well as the rockstars that gravitated towards Freddie at the time: Eric Clapton, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck, Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana and many others. Greg's current band, The Venturas, recently recorded a cd for Mandy Lauderdale, a one-of-a-kind sexy jazz/lounge/cabaret singer currently based out of N.Y. Greg has spent most of his career working as a sideman, but has recently released his own solo project, entitled ANGELS FROM HAZARD. The cd has 7 original songs and 5 covers-- various flavors of blues, southern rock and country rock, as well as an original tune that is a danceable tip of the hat to Carlos Santana. Eight great singers give outstanding performances. One of the highlights of the cd is a cover of Gregg Allman's magnificent "Queen of Hearts", with a vocal performance by Shawn Brown that is wowing listeners across the U.S. and Europe, along with a stunning fender rhodes piano solo by Gregg Allman bandleader Neil Larsen. Guest musicians include Dan Toler, Neil Larsen, Shawn Brown, Tim Heding, Joey LaVallee, Dave Reinhardt, Rob McDowell, Damon Fowler, Jimmy Griswold, Greg Billings, George Harris, Patrick Bettison, Todd Plant, Jennifer Leigh, Ally Couch, and last but not least, T.C. Carr. The cd can be purchased from www.gregpoulosguitar.com
