RUMBLE YOUNG MAN, RUMBLE! ...Cassius Clay

About Me

Started playing bass when I was 18 and still play the vintage 1965 Fender Jazz bass that I bought when I was 20. Sanded off what was left of the original Olympic White paint on the body around 30 years ago but that's the same bass in my current profile picture in the upper left hand corner.
Moved to Macon Georgia when I was 21, lived there on and off for a couple years and was a founding member of a band called the Underground Railroad that consisted of Bobby Womack's horn section along with drummer John Morgan and guitar player Robert Coleman from James Brown's band. We were managed by Zelma Redding (Otis) and toured as the back up band for Percy Sledge, Clarence Carter, Candi Staton, and King Floyd. James Brown sat in for a few songs on one of our last gigs in Atlanta (1976) which was a high point for me worth mentioning.

The next six years I moved back and forth between Sarasota and Atlanta to play in a few different versions of an R&B band called Cool Breeze with Richy Kicklighter, Bill Sheffield, and Hal Berry (among others) and one r&b / fusion band called Tall Dogs.Moved back to Sarasota permanently in 82 to join a jazz fusion band called Breakaway, then the Greg Allman Band from 82 to 83.After that played in local bands including Eclipse 83 - 86, the Instigators 86 - 89, Twinkle mid 90's (was in her music video "Can't Get Love With Money" which aired on VH1 and MTV), and the Richy Kicklighter Group on and off from mid 90's to 2005. Currently playing with 504, the Sidney James Trio, Jenna & the Generators, the Al Fuller Group, AJ and the Automatics, The Paul Duffy Band, and the James Albritton Experience. Uploaded some songs I played on over the years, most of them are live, some old and some new. Not the best quality recording in the world but great players.
