I began my journey in writing just over a year ago, writing through darkness to reach the light..this journey hasn't been easy but I have witnessed myself grow beyond anything I anticipated.. It would not have been possible without the love and encouragment from people like Brotha Deep who saw my gift through a series of blogs I posted bearing my heart and soul.. From there i recorded my first spoken word with poetry over music which again would not have been possible without the encouragment of Lady M.
Through networking I found other poets in my area and was encouraged to go to my first open mic night where I read to a crowd of strangers with my eyes on the door in absolute terror.. haha (remembering that moment) changed me forever I faced a lifetime of fear and no belief in self and continue to push those barriers down. Since I have recorded other tracks with Brotha Deep and contributed to a track on the new ManicM album 'wrong side of the fence' due to be released soon. I have had work published in various online mags, the 800 poems for Liverpool anthology and my poem about the horrific racist murder of Anthony Walker here in Liverpool will be featured in the 'race' issue of Citizen 32 in March.
I continue to perform at Dead good poets society every month and have also performed for DaDaverse.
I am also a volunteer with the wild woman movement celebrating sisterhood and building shrines through creativity. I am also in the process of training to become a psycho dynamic counsellor.. I am now focusing on all these areas and creating empowering words and hope for others to be all they can and more.If you would like to collaborate on any music projects with my style of poetry then feel free to get in touch..
