theLIGHT's Tribute To 9/11
My writing, painting, creating internet music, and.......sports, dancing, a cold beer on a hot day or a glass of wine that night with the woman in play. I don't drink to get drunk for it deadens the brain that I depend on to create.
I'd like to meet:
Friendship? People of all walks of life. No matter color, nationality, creed, religion - just as long as you do not try to force feed your beliefs that I can never agree to or wish to practice. Drugs have NEVER been a part of my life & never will. "Say No To Drugs!" So if by screen name and/or profile you boast of it, please pass me by in terms of friendship for our interests in life differs, with nothing to share. BTW, PEOPLE filled with HATRED ARE NOT ALLOWED in "myspace."
theLIGHT goes funky with his beat poem: Soulful Strut (read to music you're hearing)
SOULFUL STRUT...(Goin' Beat Baby!)
The poet LIGHT the mushy fool is also cool...
Have no fright, give no crut, your rug can cut...
With music cook, take a look - it's in my talent pool...
So thru your life I can take my soulful strut
Among the chics will make a pick - then let it groove...
Will whisper sweet, take a peek, and laugh out loud...
But of course get off high horse - in me approve...
So we can step and sing on top of cloud
Stop your bull, begin to pull - before I dance away...
To checkout rest for the best - and real abrupt...
Now take your shot, this poet's hot - I mean today...
Before with other take along my soulful strut
I call your bluff, if you like off the cuff...
No one need know or are you just for show...
I've given jazz, razz matazz and groovy stuff...
You? Give off key and off beat lies in undertow
So whad you say? Wanna stay? Wanna dance?...
For just today I be your mutt and be corrupt...
I can swing my ding-a-ling, best take a chance...
And come with me together take that soulful strut!

Music:
Music Is The Universal Language ~ Eddie theLIGHT
Musical Background: Formally trained in Trumpet, Drums, & Various Percussion Instruments....Self Taught: Vibes, & Synthesizer....which led to learning how to create internet music with some outstanding sequencers on the internet. This new technical musical knowledge by way of unbelievable computer programs, has made me feel like a "one man band!" Musical Influences: Earth, Wind & Fire, Maynard Ferguson, Miles Davis, Lionel Richie, Ramsey Lewis, Paquito D'Rivera, Herbie Hancock, Bee Gees, Arturo Sandoval, Chuck Loeb, Liza Minelli, Chick Corea, Tony Bennett, Chuck Mangione, Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Stevie Wonder, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Paul McCartney, Ricardo Ray, Earl Klugh, Johnny Pacheco, John Scofield, Lena Horne, Smokey Robinson, Fred Astaire, Spyro Gyra, Stanley Clark, Placido Domingo, David Sanborn....to name some.
My taste in music is as diversified as what I write, and the music I learned to play: Jazz, Latin, Rock, R&B, Blues, Pop, Broadway, Gospel, & some Classical, Country&Western. To me, if the lyrics stir my soul, the music makes my heart sing, and the singer by the voice feels it all......I love it no matter the genre!
Movies:
So many, but here goes: Titanic, Gone With The Wind, The Godfather (1 & 2), King Of Kings, The Mummy/The Mummy Returns/Scorpion King, The Ten Commandments, What Women Want, Sleepless In Seattle, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Westside Story, Scarface, Wizard Of Oz, The Saint, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, The Cotton Club, Goodfellas, All Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers Musicals Movies, Harlem Nights, Gonga Din, Born Free, and most recently....Ray! Based on one of my most favorite of all singer/musician of all times. He gave the greatest rendition of "America, America," that still makes my spine tingle & brings tears to my eyes....RIP Mr Ray Charles, I am one who will never forget your unique & soulful voice that touches the spirit of all no matter the color of their skin or taste in music.
Television:
Don't watch much T.V. but when I do, I love to watch those old movies I grew up with shown on AMC & TCM. Otherwise, I enjoy watching & learning from all those wonderful cable stations That air history, the wild, medical, law, finance, music, etc. Knowledge has always been something I thirst for. Seems I can never get enough...I'll be learning 'til I go deep six (died & buried) For learning all goes beyond our very existance, hence in my short life I plan on absorbing as much as I can.
Books:
The Bible...Any book about real life, history or biography. Otherwise anything by: Rice, King, Creighton, Laimo.
Heroes:
GOD! And I don't mean someone on earth who think they are one. And all who have lived and made a difference on this otherwise thankless world who view movie stars/entertainers as a polical spokesperson....none of you speak for me....just entertain & leave (right or wrong) those elected to do so. JUST BECAUSE YOU PLAYED A PRESIDENT, DOESN'T MAKE YOU ONE. And while we are at it: DO NOT SPEAK TO ME about the miltary & what you think they should or must do, if you never served. For there are too many who wouldn't sacrifice a minute for the very same rights they so readily use....and use them to criticise those who fight to preserve that right. Freedom isn't free! And it has become more difficult to hold on to that freedom - from those that would take it away and destroy our nation in the process.
