About my musical 'career'; I started out as a DIY hiphop-dude, sampling tunes from computergames and movies. This got me ending up being the vocalist in a funk/grunge/blues/rap/rock-band. Did a bunch of gigs, even recorded an EP. Don't try to look for it. (Seriously, don't.)
I made my own music in between, with little more than a guitar and an insubordinate computer -which is still pretty much my equipment to this day. SlowMotionAdversity
is sort of a compilation of the music I made from 2001-2003, and was released through U-Lit Records in the summer of 2003. One could consider this record a collection of spontaneously captured moods, featuring slow, distorted drumloops, mangled melodies, some soundscapes, you know, whatever I coincidentally blended together on my pc, guided by the state of mind I was in at that particular moment.
Anyway, by that time I had already started working on The Wrong Side of the Fence... If you want to know more about how that album came together, read my blog 'The Story Behind the Fence'.
Music Video for HANK
Unlike the track in the player above, this is the final album version of the song, featuring a new intro/outro and the wonderful guitar solo by Maarten from A Day's Work...
(voice: Charles Bukowski, footage taken from the movie Naqoyqatsi)
Music Video for WAY DOWN IN THE HOLE
(footage taken from The Wire's series finale -no big spoilers really)
Music video for "Unfinished Sympathy" by Gijsbrecht & IJsbrand. A nice cover definitely worth checking out:
What's most important to me when it comes to making music is that I like to do it with the little resources I've got, and only when I really feel like it. I don't think it's necessary to have the most expensive equipment, spend time in (and money on) studios, heck, I don't even believe you have to be very good at what you do, be it singing, playing your instruments, or both. Not if you just want to deliver something genuine and sincere, anyway.
