Stathis Kalyviotis

Composer and multi-instrumentalist , born and grew up in Athens. In 1981 formed one of the first Greek punk groups, the internationally unknown "Anipofori" (The Unbearables), the first punk band singing in Greek. During the 80s I cooperated with some of the most important groups of the Greek independent rock music scene (Echo Tatoo, Low Noise, Enouma Elis) In the late 80s, I started cooperating with Greek singer-lyricist Kristi Stassinopoulou. Together with Kristi, with the drummer Vangelis Vekios and guitarist Kostis Anagnostopoulos we formed “Selana”, an underground band with an “ethnopunk” sound, also often performing as the support group of the late Pavlos Sidiropoulos. Beginning of the '90s I started using also traditional string instruments and experimenting with electronics and live looping. I'm the composer, arranger and co-producer of Kristi Stassinopoulou's albums, "taxidoscopio", "The Secrets of the Rocks" , "Echotropia" and "Ifantokosmos", in which I played electric and acoustic guitars, saz, laouto, bass, baglama, keyboards and electronics . Together with Kristi and our band we have appeared in music festivals, concert halls and clubs in Europe, Canada, USA and Brazil. I have also cooperated with the Cologne/Germany based band “Schall Sick Brass Band”. Our last album "taxidoscopio" was released by Resistencia for Spain and Portugal in December 2006, by Heaven & Earth for Germany, Austria and the U.K. in February 2007, by King Records for Japan and the Far East in Aug 2007 and by Protasis Music for Greece in November 2007.
