"...exquisite folk-pop"
- Michael Lipton, The Charleston Daily Mail (USA)

"Their prose is couched by some of the most gorgeous acoustic arrangements I’ve heard in years."
- Mike Farragher, The Irish Voice (USA)

"...once in awhile a CD emerges from the pile on my desk and demands that I listen to it from beginning to end, that I play it more than once, maybe even over and over again for several days, and that I pester everyone I know, insisting that nothing is more important to them at that precise moment than checking out this new band I've found. That's what's been happening with '... Waltzing Alone', an extraordinary debut album from The Guggenheim Grotto."
- Paul Liberatore, Marin Independent Journal (USA)

"...they're as cool sounding as their name."
- Philadelphia Weekly (USA)

"...one of the best CD's of the year."
- Iowa City Calender (USA)

"Nic Harcourt, well-known as a DJ out here in Glitter City, called this "one of the most beautiful records of the year", but he was off by nine years: it's one of the most gorgeous of the decade."
- Mark S. Tucker, www.acousticmusic.com

"...a record of first-rate acoustic pop."
- Jason Killingsworth, Paste Magazine (USA)

"...It isn't often I use the word extraordinary with a first album, but in the case of Guggenheim Grotto's 'Waltzing Alone...' I would have to use that word and a lot more to describe a project that charmed me entirely from the first listen."
- Cindy Reich, The Celtic Connection (USA)

"It's the combination of many bits and pieces - pop, folk and soft rock influences, soaring melodies, literate lyrics, quietly stunning vocal harmonies that have made the Grotto one of the past year's most promising new acts."
- Marianne Meyer, The Washington Post (USA)

"...one applicable label can be found in the longing chorus of album opener "Philosophia," a refrain that reads: "Oh, to be a work of art." After spanning the full breadth of its very varied terrain, 'Waltzing Alone...' should certainly be counted as one."
- Mike Hume, Falls Church News-Press (USA)

"'Waltzing Alone...' is worth revisiting again and again."
- Chris Cameron, Play Magazine (USA)

"In a musical tavern of light beers and sugary cordials, this stuff is pure stout."
- Scott Alarik, The Boston Globe (USA)

"With debts to both Radiohead and the Beatles, this is modern, intelligent, lyrically potent pop. Growing more spare and folky as it roams along, it is light yet never insubstantial; elegant yet never slick. Nearly the only thing overtly Irish about the Grotto is its love affair with words."
- Daniel Gewertz, The Boston Herald (USA)

"Syndicated taste-shapers like Morning Becomes Eclectic’s Nic Harcourt (KCRW) and The World Café’s David Dye (WXPN), among others, have taken notice of the group’s musical artistry, and deservedly so, given the exquisitely crafted folk-pop of their LP debut, …Waltzing Alone. With gorgeous, honey-dipped vocal harmonies illuminating the way, the band’s melodic sophistication asserts itself with economy, marked by spare arrangements that help their songs resonate with rich intimacy. A beautiful clarity pervades throughout, in part because nothing ever feels heavy-handed. The trio works with a masterfully light touch, from their delicate acoustic fingerpicking to the effortless harmonies to the instrumental arrangements, giving each song the perfect weight and density for its intentions."
