Ever since I can remember I loved music and spent much of my younger days buying records (remember them!!). Oddly I never learned to play an instrument. The best way to compensate for my lack of musical prowes on an instrument was to get involved with broadcasting.............I first became interested in radio back in 1979.I had a day jobbut eventually radio became the full time occupation. My interest in Thin Lizzy ( see below ) led me on to checking out other Irish bands at the time and that interest has been with me ever since. That is why I still do a show on the radio dedicated to the promotion of up and coming Irish bands. There are so many out there all trying to find their way in the madness that is the Irish Music Industry. This double award winning radio show airs every Friday night on WLRfm (in Waterford, Ireland) from 10pm - 1am. If you are in a band, please feel free to contact me....www.wlrfm.com. The show is IRISH NIGHTLIFE.

It's no secret to people that know me, how much of a fan I am of Thin Lizzy. I followed the bands career from about 1969/70. I can still vividly recall hearing "Whiskey In The Jar" on the radio for the very first time and totally freaking out. It should be noted that as a lad aged 13/14 at that time, all we (my peers) had in Ireland were the bloody showbands. Radio Luxemburg and Radio Carloine were life savers. As time passed I became more and more intrigued by Philip Lynott's writing and the love affair with everything "Lizzy" deepened. I was fortunate to meet Philip on a number of occasions but the most memorable was when he played a solo gig in Waterford' where I not only met him but also got to interview him also(1983). The photograph of Philip (elsewhere on this site) and I was taken just after that interview, a recording of which I still have and has become a treasured possession, among some other personal treasures associated with Philip. ***************** Many years later I was to become a member of the RoisÃn Dubh Trust which is spearheaded by Philip's mother, Philomena. Philomena and I have been close friends now for many years. A truly remarkable woman who has friends in just about every corner of the globe I am proud of the friendship we share.
