About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorEva Christie is a Perth based vocalist and saxophonist who specialises in the emotive delivery of heartrending songs in both English and Gaelic, generating what is, essentially, an amalgamation of traditional and contemporary sounds. Currently unsigned, she has a strong local following, as well as in the Falkirk area.Eva has a varied and interesting musical background. Her mother played classical guitar while her children were in their junior years, while her father played the role of taxi service and paid (heavily) for musical equipment and tuition. She grew up on a diet of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, interspersed with the music of the times. Norman (Eva’s brother) shares her passion for music and currently lends his drumming talents to the Fakes and Insulting Malcolm.During her many years in music performance, Eva sites her highlights as performing at the Glastonbury Festival, Earls Court and Bannockburn. A lot of hard work was involved on the way and she grafted within the full range of musical opportunities that were presented to her at Hermitage Academy, Helensburgh, before eventually representing her school at a national level with the West of Scotland Schools Concert Band and Na Smeòraichan (Hermitage Academy’s Premier Gaelic Choir), as well as securing 2nd place in the Soloist category at the 1997 Royal Naval Volunteer Band Festival in Portsmouth. She has had the privilege to have had 2 years tuitions from the celebrated saxophonist Tim Barella and advice from the internationally renowned Tommy Smith.Eva graduated with a BA in Music Performance from Perth College at the age of 20 and has since performed at a variety of festivals (including Dougie MacLean’s Perthshire Amber) and with several notable solo artists and bands (Owen Nicholson of Southpaw, Brian Hurren of Runrig, Lawrie Macmillan, Ross Ainslie, Dougie MacLean, Rock, Salt and Nails, the list goes on).
