Through the constant itch I've had since I was kid that never seemed to disappear by means of self medicating, and an acoustic performance I seen of Eric Clapton on MTV unplugged I turned to music for a remedy. I borrowed a guitar from my mum's boss (he never got it back, incidentally) and spent endless hours playing other cunt’s songs in the lounge of a local pub. Soon I realised I had a wee bit of a voice on me. After about a year of this at the bold age of 17 I started getting myself gigs in pubs around Airdrie and the odd one here ‘n’ there in Glasgow through a mate. At which point the itch was still very much irritating. It still is to this day but the only way I’ve found to numb this is by the power of the pen and making love live on stage in front of as many people possible! The itch will never leave; it only grows and keeps you uncomfortably satisfied.
