About Me

Hey! I am the editor of the punk rock webzine Now Wave. So yeah, I dig the rock music. In particular, I'm into early rock n' roll, '70s punk rock, powerpop, old rhythm & blues, and garage rock. I'm also a HUGE Philly sports fan - love the Eagles, Sixers, Phillies, Flyers, 'Nova and Temple basketball, etc. In my spare time, I enjoy pumping iron, talking politics, watching TV, and drinking beer. I am descended from exiled English horse thieves and roguish southern moonshiners.I am currently writing a novel called "Treatment 17", which I intend to be an homage to great dystopian fictions like "1984", "Brave New World", and "Soylent Green" (except with more sex). My long-awaited short story collection, "Chekhov on Crack", is rolling towards completion as well. I am presently obsessed with sausage sandwiches. Yum.

My Interests

'50s rock n' roll, '77 punk rock, full-figured women, The Sopranos, Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, Flyers, beer, pizza, cats, '70s black sitcoms, movies about dysfunctional families, '79-'81 powerpop, Kurt Vonnegut, Bill Hicks, dystopian and post-apocalyptic sci-fi, diners, the American Revolution, girl groups, the Philadelphia Daily News, cheeseburgers, 1970s crime films, political discussion shows, chick movies, Mexican food, ESPN Radio

I'd like to meet:

I can't stand all the mean-spiritedness and partisan bickering that plague our social discourse these days. I like everyone - Republican, Democrat; independent; straight, gay, bi,; Christian, Jew, Muslim, agnostic, atheist; young, old; rich, poor; loudmouth, quiet type; blue collar, white collar; drinker, abstainer; jock, prep, stoner, geek; red stater, blue stater; black, white, brown, purple. Whatever you are, I think we should all get along and unite as human beings. So basically, I'd like to meet great people of all sorts who are into the same stuff as me. If you're not a douche bag, we're cool. And, yes, by all means, feel free to add me if you're a band. I know some myspacers get a little huffy about band adds. But I have no problem with bands wanting to promote their music, and I do enjoy hearing new groups. Hell, anyone wishing to promote one's self is welcome to add me. Authors, poets, comedians, lion tamers, tap dancers, stuntmen, philosophers, candy peddlers, popcorn magnates, dwarf tossers, pirates...Anyone but mimes. Do not add me if you are a mime. Mimes frighten me.

Half-year in review

So they say that nobody buys CDs anymore, and that fewer labels are putting them out. Funny every title on my albums-of-the-year (so far) list arrived in my mailbox in CD form. Who knows? In a few y...

Mary Weiss- "Dangerous Game"

Without a doubt, the best album of 2007. Shangri-Las singer Mary Weiss, out of music for 40 freaking years, is back and sounding absolutely phenomenal. Backing her is the great Reigning Sound. Greg Ca...

Sharon

If I ever wrote a hokey, Erich Segal style remembrance of my recently departed other half, there would be hell to pay. In this life or the next, I would be made to atone for such mawkish tripe. Sharo...
