About Me

CLICK BELOW TO BE TAKEN TO MY WEBSITE:
Professionally I am a Dog and Cat Behavior Specialist and Small Animal Massage Therapist. I treat behavioral issues in cats and dogs humanely. I do not use chokes, punishments, pinch or prong collars, or leash jerks (I hate when people jerk their dogs) to train and work with dogs. I work with aggressive dogs.
The humane treatment of animals is my primary goal. I can be contacted professionally through my website www.K9Kitty.com.
You can order "The Right Way the First Time" through my website www.K9Kitty.com. It is sold in PETA's catalog, under Books/Companion Animals. It is the only dog training/behavior book they've endorsed. It is also available on Amazon in the US, UK, & Canada.
Praise for "The Right Way the First Time"
“Alana Stevenson's The Right Way the First Time is a welcome
addition to the chorus of positive dog training. Its beauty lies
in Alana’s direct approach. The book is easy to understand
and is fueled by Alana’s genuine and obvious love of animals.
She emphasizes the importance of educating dogs “the
right way, the first time,” which is an invaluable refrain.
If more and more people implement her suggestions,
more and more dogs...and people...will benefit.”
-Paul Owens, author of The Dog Whisperer, A
Compassionate, Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training
“Finally! A 100 percent humane dog-training book!
We have been waiting a long time for this. No more
harsh methods. Just a gentle, caring approach with
rewards for good behavior. How refreshing! I would
love to see every dog guardian read this book.”
-Karen Porreca, People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals
“Alana Stevenson has done a fabulous service to
dogs and their guardians. She knows how a dog's mind
works, and her clear advice and positive approach
make training rewarding for both canine and human."
-Jonathan Balcombe, PhD, author of Pleasurable Kingdom:
Animals and the Nature of Feeling Good
"The Right Way, The First Time, Teaching Your Dog
Kindly and Humanely is beautifully written and has
great content for discerning and naive dog owners.”
-William E. Campbell, author of Behavior Problems in Dogs,
The New Better Behavior in Dogs, and
Dog Behavior Problems: The Counselor’s Handbook
"For too many years, dogs have been unnecessarily
trained with harsh and combative methods. The Right
Way the First Time is straightforward, easily read, and
will assist caring dog owners in developing appropriate
behavior in a compassionate way and in a fashion that
will strengthen the bond between dog and owner."
-Lore I. Haug, DVM, MS, CPDT
Diplomat of the American College
of Veterinary Behaviorists
“The author captures beautifully the essence of positive
training, telling us what we know but do not always
put in to practice: dogs are sentient beings who are just
like us in the sense that they respond better to loving
leadership that rewards than to leadership by force.”
-Lynn Hoover, MSW, CDBC, author of The Family in Dog Behavior Consulting, President & founder, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Inc. (IAABC)
PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS.
The majority of animals in shelters are still killed by gas chambers. Please do not breed, sell, or buy dogs and cats and other companion animals. There are far too many animals who are dying because there is a lack of good, caring, lifelong homes. So adopt!
This video is hard to watch, but is reality. Welcome to your typical gas chamber. This is how animals are "euthanized." Go to www.PETFINDER.com. Please Adopt!!

Boycott China. Dont buy products "Made in China."

China has horrible policies. They massacred over 50,000 dogs within 5 days in 2006, clubbing them to death in front of their owners. China is the primary producer of fur exported to the US and Europe....

Dogs and Children

Dogs and children are not necessarily a good mix. In the olden days, even 15/20 years ago J, in most households, dogs were probably given more leeway to be dogs. Play-biting, jumping, and eve...

Command vs. Cue: Is There a Difference?

Yes, definitely, there is. I do realize that not everyone who commands their dogs is bullying them. However, the meaning of command is not helpful to humane training. A command conjures up the notio...
