Have Bass! Will Travel!

About Me

I play bass with a few bands. The main ones are "The Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash," and "Dave Insley's Careless Smokers." I just got back from a month in Europe with the Bastards. Right now, they are not working as much. So I am looking for other professional people and situations to work with and in. I am comfortable playing most styles of music, I am a quick study, and although I prefer to rehearse, I can play shows with little or no rehearsal. If you ever need a bass player, or just a fill in, and are interested, please let me know. Also, I have a network of musicians to call on if you are ever in need of any other players. Some folks I have played with in the past and some of them sometimes still do include; Rosie Flores, Karen Poston, Sunny Sweeney, Moonhangers, Ethan Azarian(Orange Mothers), Grassy Knoll Boys, Brandon Rhyder, Wes Hayden, Jim Stringer, Dime Store Poets, Roger Wallace, Jacque Judy(Hoyle Bros.), Gina Lee, Teri Joyce, and Shaun Young with the Jive Bombers. Also, I have been playing different kinds of Latin music (Conjunto, Cumbia, Tejano) over the years with Johnny Degollado y Su Conjunto, Alteza, and Double J Trio. Last year, I played 243 shows with 24 different bands and spent a total of 140 nights on the road. I have been playing bass pretty much full time, based out of Austin for 10 yrs. On August 26th of 2007, I played my 2,000th show with the 100th band in the 10 years. I still play with a good number of those bands from time to time. Check out my personal page at www.myspace.com/austinbass1 . Come out to a show sometime. Thanks, Vance
