A broken back at the age of 18. Fifty stitches from a college rodeo event. Living on the goodwill of others, sleeping in cars, and crisscrossing vast open spaces in a quest to rodeo another day. Its a life that yields inspiration for Mike Sanfords rich and colorful songs.
Rodeo has been my life, its a tough life but the risks are worth the rewards, offers Sanford, I long for the days on the road with friends and watching old Westerns in cheap motelswhen we could afford motels.
Sanford will have his chance to re-live some of his life on the road as he sets out to promote his debut record Travelin Soles (CaptivaTX Records) which hits stores on September 19th. Mike and his traveling partner, guitar picker Brent Newkirk, will hit the road on an acoustic 30-day, 5000 mile radio promo tour throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In between radio stops Mike will make appearances at several rodeo events and music venues.
A lifelong resident of Central Texas, Mike Sanford was raised on ranching, rodeo, and country music. Hes been making a name for himself on the local dancehall circuit and will breakout for bigger territories with his new record. Travelin Soles has a healthy mix of two-steppers, waltzes, stories, and roots rock while remaining true to Mikes experiences of love, life, and his appetite for adventure.
After the radio tour Mike Sanford and his band will hit the road and continue to tour in support of the release for the rest of the year.
