About Me

What makes a Texas songwriter? It's the wind whistling through rusty strands of barbed wire, forming harmonic sounds of loneliness that few can hear or comprehend, it's women with too much makeup, too much perfume and too much time on their hands, it's broken glass and bloodstains in the parking lot of a beer joint that has been closed and reopened more times than Paris Hilton. It..s leather squeaking and brakes locking, the abrupt sound of someone knocking on your door at the wrong time of day and the smell of gun powder from a freshly fired shotgun. It's the smell of wet grass after a rainstorm, and the excitement of looking at your caller ID and recognizing the name and number of the best looking girl in the world that you just met two days ago. It's knowing that you live in Texas and no one can make you move.
Knowing how to bring words and melodies into reality is a very special talent and those who do it are in a class unto themselves. Song weavers from Texas are even more distinct in the fact that much more is demanded of them. Everything is expected to be bigger, better, brighter and more intense if it comes from Texas. Kyle Park has taken on the challenges of the business of songwriting and it fits him well, like a comfortable coat. Though he is a young man in age, he has already accomplished a lot in a short period of time. He is one of the few people in the business that can do a walk on at the top rated show in Austin, the Sammy and Bob show on KVET FM where he was "discovered" at the age of 17 in 2002. After hearing a demo of one of Kyle's songs, Sammy Allred played it on the air and it got a huge reaction from their listening audience. Ever since then, he has been in rotation and is considered by many in the business as one of the rising stars in Texas Music.
With the release of the album "Big Time", the song "Somebody's Trying To Steal My Heart" was the first pick and it continues to get a lot of airplay and has become a favorite among Texas Music fans. Not bad for a guy who started writing songs when he was 14 after hearing the song "Seventeen" by Chris LeDoux. It started a fire and a passion for songwriting in him that burns brightly to this day. A definite "Must watch", Kyle Park is headed for big things in the music business and it will be interesting to see just how far the "kid from Leander" will go. As for me, I'm going with the old saying," I'd bet the farm on this one" and never look back. It's just a matter of time.
