Combo Mahalo

About Me

At one time, Hawaiian music was the most popular music in the United States, outselling all other types of music (classical, jazz, etc.) combined. The influence of the Hapa Haole style was widespread and continues to be felt today. Country and Western Swing steel styles are the direct descendants of the Hawaiian masters like Sol Hoopii, Andy Iona, Dick McIntire, King Bennie Nawahi and many others. The first electric instrument was the frying pan Hawaiian lap steel which opened the door for every electric instrument since. It is in the tradition of these great musicians that Combo Mahalo was formed to spread the message of International Hawaiianism and Aloha spirit.
