About Me

Marvin is a "seasoned" musician with 40 years of experience playing at least a little of any style of music you can think of, except maybe rap.

He has played from Minot to San Antonio. In little Bandido bars in Texas with a band called Tightrope (see friends list), honky tonks in Dickinson, ND (the Johnny Bernard Show) , Eagles clubs in Lexington, NE (Touch Of Country) and churches in Colorado (Faithtones). Along the way Marvin's 'day job' was as a social worker and psychotherapist for about 20 years. During that time he was in contact with a large cross section of America. He has worked with muderers, drunks and thieves as well as single moms and the dying. He tries to put some of what he as seen from all these into his songs. Give a listen and see if you can hear a bit of your own life in here somewhere. Here are some picutres of my performances

The tunes Country Girl and I Will Praise The Name Of The Lord are written and performed by my good friend
Micheal Mark Jones.
Mike is a blind singer songwriter from a small town in Nebraska and his music has not gotten much exposure. Give a listen and let us know what you think.
Three Way Blues are written by Marvin Withers
The Band IS:
Drums: Marvin Withers
Guitars: Marvin Withers
Bass: Marvin Withers
vocals: Marvin Withers
Mary Had A Little Lamb, After Midnight, andProdigal Son are cover tunes by Buddy Guy, J. J. Cale, and Rev. Robert Wilkins respectively
Influences: My first drum hero was Ginger Baker of Cream. When I was a teenager I learned every Ginger Baker drum lick I could. I consider him the "god of drums". I have also admired Carmine Appice, Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd and many others. On guitar I am a die hard Clapton/Hendrix wanna be. I also have been influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn, B. B. King, Billy Gibbons and about every blues guitarist I have ever heard. Here are some pictures of my favorite bands and heros
Sounds Like: Eric Clapton was adopted by Ginger Baker and George Thorogood.
