about "quatre vents abrupt nouent le souffle":
i have the experience that all sound is a mixture of winds, not only terrestrial and that without such winds there would be no sounds. but the fact there are silent winds or those we barely hear in origin or result, forms the conceptual base for this piece. the movements of the players constitute various suprises. the shape of a granular condensation, a mixture of subtle aspirations growing humid, encircles the only score: a mobile of pre-recorded discs turning in mid-air at the center of the space. the audience is a broken ring upon a broken ring. the sounds produced, although mysterious, are not as important as how they become tied together. acoustic instrumentation and electronic spatializations offset the geometries of the audience/auditory circle. the archetypal architecture of the cave is deconstructed into a foetal ear. an old LP skips in the groove, the pin-prick of the memory floods the vessel. it is interrupted, corrupted. the violin scatters shards of notes, mice darting across the floor, captured in loops, condensed as the winds cease, then resume, swell briefly, subsiding in a crackling of electronics. moving across elemental sources through various mediated instruments the silhouette of a face we might begin to understand, a face whose breath-knot is tied by the winds.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXinfl
