Influences:

read long after recording "spontaneous conversations" and "with the antithetical self" but the perfect way to sum up both: .."we shall begin by imagining that there exists a 'self-conscious' observer. he is to be aware of his 'self' as something observed. he is to distinguish that 'self' from an antithesis - a 'not-self' - also observed. and he is to be aware of his 'self' as an intermediary entity - an instrument - which he can employ in observing the 'not-self.' in other words, he is to be aware, by observation, of what is called 'the subject-objection relation." ..(j w dunne)
for time canvas: The Time Canvas was completed during an investigation into Henri Bergson's theory on duration. In it, each piece is unique to itself yet essential for the whole. Drawing on the randomness of life as we find ourselves in different places moment to moment, a question was raised on how these transitory events find themselves existing within the timeless. This work has served as a foundation for explorations I am currently conducting on sound in relation to consciousness and time. The front cover was drawn at the age of 19 during a visual exploration into these same themes.

for why i left terra firma: just a return to what was in "the karman line." atonality, dissonance, polyphony, various timbres with limited instruments. improvisation. off key singing in places to better illustrate points when needed. experimented with an older painting technique i've developed for foundational layers in which each layer is added on with eyes closed and a sort of intuitive "touch" is used to find the proper place for the next required color. for music, i did this with headphones off in places and watched the track levels for sound, so i suppose i cheated a bit and did not go about it completely blindly. it was amazing to hear the results on the track, as the unison for vocals and instrumentals would combine precisely at the exact moment needed to. it overall ended up much better improvised and free than i could've done if i reigned it in with pencil and music paper pad.
