About Me

Originally brought together in the summer of 2002 by co-conspirators Danielle Susskraut of Union Square Lounge and Quirky Promotions fame and the local interviewer and zinester dork Charlie Kassay, Deuces Wild Productions always from the get go was intended to be a gigantic best of all possible worlds merger between two local Long Island scene stalwarts. Always understanding and never under estimating the hurdles they'd have to face doing sometimes very eclectic 18 and over shows every Thursday night for about 2 and half years at the bar Saints & Sinners, the lowest common denominator and stereotypical notion of bar shows automatically meaning wackness and a sometimes rigid and close minded Long Island scene, Charlie and Danielle both always knew they'd have a hard road to travel, but yet they both felt it was a worthwhile venture anyhow. Especially since, while they had no problems with any other booking team on Long Island whatsoever nor would they ever disavow either of their singular and unique roots in the scene, too often on Long Island they saw a brand of cronyism, exclusiveness and lack of show diversity that they would like to combat with an "anything goes" appreciation of anything and everything that Long Island represents and has to offer in terms of music, art and its culture. Over the last year or so, despite many hard fought successes, incredible support and achievements beyond either of their wildest dreams, the team has since faced many massive changes, challenges, overhauls and bouts of adversity, including but not up to to the sad, unfortunate but ultimately friendly departure of Danielle Susskraut, a large ammount of turnover, stress and upheavel at and the eventual closing down of their original home away from home Saints & Sinners. For those who are still curious and care though, Charlie Kassay can currently still be found not only forever trying to figure out ways to revamp and revitalize his own life, but, if he can, also bringing the Situation Thursdays vibe to other bars on Long Island, churchs, halls, houses, freespaces and venues anywhere and everywhere he can as the sort of renegade unmasked avenger for all that's positive, good and healthy for the local music scene he always prided himself in being. Needless to say, no matter what happens you can be rest assured he'll be bringing the same sense of openmindedness, inclusivity and gigantic heart that friends, family and fans alike came to know from him in his Situation Thursday days.
