About me

I'm a musician, producer and sometimes gig organizer and dj who was born in the so-called Democratic Republic of Congo (ex-Zaire) during the 20th century when people thought the 21st century would look like a science-fiction world (in fact it is but most people don't see it).
I'm of Greek, Zairian and Belgian descent. Not white, nor black, for some I look like what people call in French "un quarteron" (something you could translate by "a quadroon" in English but the meaning is slightly different), for some I look like an Arab, for some I look like a Malay or an Indonesian, for some like a gay [ah, well, you know a guy full of make-up and wearing a skirt...] for some like a punk for some like a girl so at least I'm supposed to be something called a human : I have one head, two arms, two legs, a body and all the rest.
I do hate racism sexism, speciesm (I'm vegan), capitalism and and and ...
I mostly grew up in the French speaking part of Belgium, then later moved to Brussels, then to the Netherlands, later traveled a lot across Europe and Asia mostly to perform, meet different artists, set up new projects and collaborations.
At the present time I keep moving a bit everywhere but my recording and mastering studio has been relocated to Belgium until next year then it will move again I guess.
I did many studies and mostly finish none of them : electro-acoustic, art school, theater, orchestral drums, silkscreen, etc. ; I started to record industrial and noise music in 1989 with the band Crno klank and since then played in many other projects and under different names such as Axiome, Ammo, Ambre, Dead Hollywood stars, C-drik, Kirdec, Moonsanto, Tetra plok, Elekore, Logatomistes and so on and collaborated live or studio with many artists, just check the list hereunder.
I played and still play many styles such as electro-acoustic, noise, improv, digital punk, breakcore, electro, dark ambient, short movie soundtracks, music for dance and theater and so on.
I released more than 30 records and many tracks on compilations in Belgium, Germany, France, China, USA, Canada, India, Finland,...
I speak English, French, Dutch, a not too bad but still basic German and a very little bit of some other languages if needed.
I'm also involved in two (soon three) labels : Syrphe (also a mastering studio mainly focused on my own productions and the production of underground electronic and noise artists coming from Africa, the Middle-East and Asia), Textolux (production of electro) and run a tape label during the 90's called Sepulkrales katakombes which produced my projects and international bands like M. Nomized, De fabriek, In absentia, Simbolo, Sequela, Deleted, Architect's office, Sphinx, and much more.

Projects

I am currently collecting tracks of non-Western artists for some new compilation cd's coming out this year and the next one. One is focused onto harsh noise, one onto female artists only and one onto rhythmical music (underground hip hop - no gangsta-mtv shit please, (preferably old school) industrial, breakcore, electronica).
Meanwhile I also write a book about the underground electronic, noise, experimental, electro-acoustic, improv whatever scene in Africa, the Middle-East and Asia (except Japan). I'm looking for all kind of info, documents, music, biographies, internet links, books, etc. Believe it or not but things started in 1944 in Egypt, and other things were happening in Indonesia during the 60's and Iran during the 70's. Oooh, yes !
I'm not including the punk, metal, grind, oi or goth scenes into this book but a few references can be eventually welcome if they are really interesting. Thanks.

My Interests

Veganism, music, noise, politics, art, short movies, experimental movies, books, ecology, philosophy, atheism, anti-capitalism, linguistics, semiotic, communication, new technologies [cybernetic, artificial intelligence,...], etc. I'm fascinated by science and how it can help but also destroy everything. I'm fascinated by humanity : such an entity full of paradoxes, hate, violence, self destruction. I'm fascinated by stupid ignorants blaming people different than them to be responsible of all misfortunes of this world. I'm fascinated by artificial intelligence and how complex and powerful it starts to be.

I'd like to meet:

My clone.

Music:

I like music in general but am more into electronic, experimental and noise than other genres. I think that there is always something good to find in any genres [but I definitely hate all I heard sounding like Gospel and modern R'n'B]. So even if I do like a lot harsh noise for example, I'm not ashamed to tell I like some dance stuff occasionally. I just LOVE music. Gamelan, noise, breakcore, power electronics, digital punk, [old school] industrial, [old school] ebm, electro, experimental, early electronic and experimental music [from the 1900's until the 1970's such as Pauline Oliveros, Bruce Haak, Luigi Russolo, Halim El-Dabh, White noise, Johanna M. Beyer, Pierre Schaeffer, Walter Ruttmann, but also The residents, etc.] , new wave [Minimal compact, Karl Biscuit,...], electro-acoustic, electroacoustic [Francis Dhomont, Robert Normandeau, Bernard Parmegiani,...], weird/experimental/avantgarde stuff like : The Residents, Nora Keyes, Miss Murgatroid, [I love all three] and more, ambient, free jazz [John Zorn, Caspar Broetzmann Massaker,...], punk [Melt banana, Siekiera,...], grindcore [The locust], black metal, death metal, out rock / post rock [De kift, Big black,...], gothic, Tuvan music [Yat-Kha], underground hip hop [Sole, Beans, Dalek, Sage Francis, Meat beat manifesto, The beatnigs, Consolidated, CX Kidtronik, Techno animal, MC Autopsia, Mad EP, Sensational, Soul Williams,...], some psychedelic music [and if one can consider The legendary pink dots and the Tear garden as a modern form of it you can see them as my favorite bands in this style] techno, acid, drum'n'bass, Korean drums, classical music [mostly middle-age, antique, baroque, contemporary and minimalist/repetitive music], ethnic music in general anyway [but mostly : gamelan, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Pygmy], contemporary classical music and so on... Gamelan, harsh noise [all !!], old school industrial [Het zweet, Militia, SPK, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Thorofon, Test dept.,Prima Linea, TG, P16.D4, Etant donnes, The dance of the death, Officine Schwartz and so much more], electronic "industrial" [Dead skeleton, Chrysalide, ...], field recordings, electro [like old school ebm, minimal wave, electro-clash, etc. : Cybotron, The Rorschach garden, Adult., Japanese Telecom, Ligue of nations, Dekolaz, Zarkoff, Nine circles, Snowy red, Klinik, Magas, Borghesia, Skinny puppy, Alien Skull Paint, Luke Eargoggle, Hard corps to speak about a few], minimalism in classical music [such as the old Wim Mertens, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley... and I like Giya Kancheli a lot too] and ambient noise probably stay my favorite genres. I'm somebody very nostalgic, so quite addicted to some old electronic, wave, industrial and punk from the 70's and 80's. The so-called contemporary ebm and so-called power noise movement [I hate this term even if some people tell some of my projects are connected to it, to me this term means nothing but distorted techno] don't interest me that much in general.

Movies:

The wings of desire, [Der Himmel ueber Berlin], [Wim Wenders], Alice in den Staedten, [Alice in the cities], [Wim Wenders], Eraserhead, [David Lynch], The tenant, [Le locataire], [Roman Polanski], The Fearless Vampire Killers, [Roman Polanski], The Man Who Fell to Earth, [Nicolas Roeg], Made in Hong Kong, [Fruit Chan], Tetsuo, [Iron man], [Shinya Tsukamoto], Brazil, [Terry Gilliam], The nightmare before Christmas, [Tim Burton], Soylent green, [Richard Fleischer], Sleeper, [Woody Allen], Planet of the apes, [Franklin J. Schaffner], THX 1138, [George Lucas], Blade runner, [Ridley Scott], Santa Sangre, [Alexandro Jodorowsky], Tonari no Totoro, [My neighbor Totoro], [Hayao Miyazaki], M, [Fritz Lang], Punishment park, [Peter Watkins], Kirikou et la sorciere [Michel Ocelot], Den brysomme mannen, [Jens Lien], Les pirates du vivant/Argentine : Le soja de la faim [http://www.alerte-verte.com], Babel, [Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu], Dawn of the dead, [George A. Romero], Shaun of the dead, [Edgar Wright]. And much more... Anyway, in general most movies of, Woody Allen, Wim Wenders, Tim Burton, Aki Kaurismaki, Enki Bilal, Terry Gilliam, Samira Makhmalbaf, Lars von Trier, David Lynch, a lot of Asian [Korean, Japanese mostly but I discover more and more interesting Chinese and Iranian one's] movies and animes [no action or kung-fu movies, I hate that !], documentaries [political, social, environmental, cultural], soft science-fiction [mostly avoiding action-science fiction], a lot of films from the mid 60's until the mid 80's, experimental movies, short movies and so on [Gustav Deutsch, the Austrian experimental movie producer Index, etc.]. A lot of cartoons like Sponge Bob Squarepants [but I find the film extremely bad], The angry beavers, Shin Chan, Ren and Stimpy, Action league now, Cat dog, Stupid invaders, Family guy, Futurama, The Simpsons, etc.

Television:

TV is mostly a big piece of shit and it's getting worse and worse.

Books:

No logo, [Naomi Klein], La domination masculine, [Masculine domination], [Pierre Bourdieu], Le dictionnaire des langues imaginaires, [Dizionario delle lingue immaginarie], [Paolo Albani and Berlinghiero Buonarroti], Pour en finir avec le sexisme, [Guillaume Carnino],Deleuze, Bakunin, Bataille, etc. I also like a lot those three novel writers : Yoko Ogawa, Serge Brussolo, Philip K. Dick. And I read a lot of European comics such as those of Enki Bilal, Lewis Trondheim, Johann Sfar, Francois Boucq, etc. Some more to come...
