About Me

"You'd never know that there was anything quite so amazing lurking and festering in the undergrowths of Reading, so unknown but so familiar, so unexpected but so desired. One listen to Rebus and you quite literally realise instantly that they are ALL THAT and more." -Glasswerk
Their unique brand of energetic dance-indie-pop has been filtering across the UK from Rebus HQ in Reading, with recent support slots to the The Fall, Jack Penate, Ordinary Boys, The Infadels and Sway amongst others, as well as sharing DJ bills with Bloc Party & The Rapture. With headline shows including the Water Rats & the Marquee, plus appearances at the Tiscali Showcase at the Islington Academy, and tours up and down the country, word is spreading.
With both their releases receiving airplay on Radio1 / BBC 6Music & XFM, their tastemaker supporters include Steve Lamacq, Bloc Party (Alex Rebus is personally thanked in their album sleeve), The Cooper Temple Clause, DrownedInSound, XFMs John Kennedy & The Sun newspaper.
Their track Work Song has also been snapped up as the soundtrack for Vodafones 3G service and national advertising campaign. A clip of the song can be heard by millions on the new television and cinema advert all over Europe and available for download to all Vodafone 3G customers in the UK, and theyve been used to help the Vodafonemusic.co.uk campaign. The same song was also a featured download on DrownedinSound.com

--Theres never a dull moment with Rebus, and never a really identifiable influence as such, closing number Worksong smacks of Ikara Colt, there are traces of Bloc Party throughout but there is something unique in their approach; the guitars play cleverly off each other, sparring almost, and the three part vocals cascade in and out of each other, all backed up by a furious rhythm section and washed over with hypnotic synth.
