About Me

The Henry Brothers were born in rural Norfolk, these identical twins began making music together while still in the womb. They've been in various bands together over the years. Mark took up the Steel Guitar six years back and after immersing himself in delta-blues guitar techniques he has emerged as a competant picker and he and brother Graham have blended that feel into all these songs . 'I'm loving the simplicity of the sound and the quality of these woderful old songs.' -(Graham). 'I'm loving singing about killin' & stuff'-(Mark). Mark also does a show on Future Community Radio (Norwich) playing Gospel, Blues, bluegrass & other roots music on sunday mornings.'For these recordings we just let the tape roll on a rehearsal - we made the least mistakes on these tunes.'-(Graham). No Home No Place To Pillow My Head is a Monroe Bros tune and seems to originate from WW1. It's a pretty Death Song from a child orphan's perspective. Long Black Veil is probably the best known song we do and runs more or less murder, betrayal, betrayal, execution. Bootleggers is a Bo Carter song about running Moonshine to which Brother Graham adds a sweet harmony. Down in the Willow Garden is a very old murder ballad, recorded by the Osborne Bros, the Everley Bros & Charlie Monroe among others. Knoxville Girl is about a murder committed at least 350 years ago in Berkshire. In the Pines is one of the oldest indiginous American folk songs, and in this version nobody dies. Hope you like 'em. REVIEW------------------------------------------------------ ----------- "Brothers Mark & Graham found each other, I can only presume, at the oft cited crossroads where that charecter who swaps skills for souls hangs out. 'Pretty' songs of love and death, from the bottom of a heart bleeding with murder betrayal and execution, a friend of mine once turned to me during one of their performances and remarked,"It's like the history lesson you always wanted to be on the curriculum but never was, due to it being carved on the inside of the skull of a severed head." What that means, I'm still not sure but this resonant bass, that steel guitar and those angelic voices in harmony, full of the wrath and anger that all good angels should have, brings me to conclude that my devotion to these is as close to a religious one as this faith based athiest is ever likely to get. Oh and i dont think I'd ever heard a version of 'Will the Circle be Unbroken' that made me realise how dark the lyrics are. Ever." THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE AMPLIFIED - (Norwich Fanzine)
