About Me
and the Homewreckers formed in 1997.Forget about the Swing revival of the nineties. Forget about the Rockabilly revival of the eighties. DANNY DEAN and the HOMEWRECKERS prove that vintage rock and roll isn't just a fad, but a lifestyle. The act that Swing Time magazine calls rebellious with a touch of class has been pulling audiences onto dance floors all over the country. With over twenty years of guitar- playing and singing experience in the fields of surf, punk, new wave and progressive rock, California native DANNY DEAN learned the hard way how to please a crowd. Now, his modern spin on the styles of early rock and roll keeps the spirit of Bill Haley and the Comets and other classic suit and tie combos alive for this generation and the next. Danny and his band of road tested veterans (including hard twanging upright bass player Gavin D. Jones, who's been with him since the Homewreckers start in 1997) give the customers their money's worth, whether in local clubs or in larger international venues. They hold their own with established acts when it comes to audience response, as they've demonstrated on tour with the likes of The Specials and The English Beat. Their debut CD album MOVE IT, recorded with renown studio pros Jay Baumgardner, Bob Saling and Steve Misdorf, snared great reviews from Blue Suede News and much of the Los Angeles area press. The album features Danny's revamping of Cliff Richard's classic hit Move It (complete with new lyrics by the original writer, Ian Samwell) and his own signature tune, Thunderbirds Are Go, a brilliant tribute to the legend of the American Road. All tracks feature Danny's smooth old-fashioned baritone, a voice striking enough to give even jaded old record collectors pause. MOVE IT is now available on Delirium Records (distributed via Hepcat Distribution). The band, meanwhile, continues to tour the U.S.A. and beyond, keeping the world safe for rock and roll the way it was meant to be.
DANNY DEAN is no new comer to the music scene. Born in Houston Texas and raised in the South Bay (near Los Angeles). He began playing guitar at the age of 14. This talented musician and vocalist attended Hawthorne High - the same school as The Beach Boys - so naturally his first band played Surf. His first musical taste was Rock Ôn Roll, but over the years he played punk as well as various types of rock. A veteran of some 14 albums, Danny has finally returned to his first love, rockabilly.

Smilin' Jack D. (AKA Jack DeBaun) got his nickname from an old bluesman who saw irony in his contrasting stoic nature on-stage and his smiling demeanor off the stage. Jack is no stranger to the Southland music scene. He first started drumming at the age of five when he used to play along to the family collection of Elvis, Beatles, Kingsmen, Rolling Stones, and other assorted 45’s beating on sofa cushions on top of TV trays. (To this day, his mom never knew why the trays were always getting bent.) He began playing guitar at age 13, but always yearned to get behind a drum kit of his own. At 15, Jack got a job to buy his own kit. When he had enough money, he promptly quit his job, and bought a mixed-match of Rogers and Slingerland drums. This was enough equipment to earn him a spot in a number of neighborhood punk garage bands in the nearby neighborhood of Cerritos, California. It was during a number of Cerritos party gigs that Jack landed a job with the Cerritos-based punk band, Channel 3, who had just recently released their first album, and needed a drummer for a pending tour. After this time (one 45, one album, 3 tours, and numerous brain cells) with Channel 3, JD left the biz and joined the Air Force to see the world.Since being back, Jack has been played with a plethora of talented players within the Southland blues scene, as well as contributing to a number of church bands in contemporary services. Besides Channel 3, Smilin’ Jack has played with, or shared the bill with, Fear, Circle Jerks, T.S.O.L., Minor Threat, Social Distortion, Exploited, ANTI, Husker Du, Crying Out Quiet, Ricky P and the Blues Gypsies, Blues Straight Up, Big Box of Men, Greg Serrato, Archie Lee Hooker, LA Jones, Joe Houston, and the Oozie Blues Band.Smilin’ Jack is currently working on a number of blues projects, while being a proud, lean, and mean Homewrecker.

The style and quality gives you a mental image of girls screaming and fainting in the aisles, and with Dannys good looks that probably arent far from the truth. Car Kulture Deluxe
A mix of rockabilly & swing that packs in more musicianship, melody & talent than 99% of what youll find theses days on MTV! Henry R. Kujawa The Forbidden Zone
Danny is among the select vocal talents whose range and capability mark them as exceptional. While there are many competent singers of certain ability who do well enough when remaining within any given genre, Danny knows no such restriction. A singer nonpareil of seemingly-boundless melodic scope, he is truly and artist where others are merely craftsman. D.C. Larson Rockabilly Magazine
Good bands are plentiful, but great ones are rare. So, when you find something special you tend to pay particularly close attention.
