About Me
You know - SHG stands for Schaumburg!
"Straight forward punk rock from Germany with plenty of melody and some catchy guitar work. Playful lyrics from a playful band. [...] ranging from mid-tempo to a bit faster. Energetic."
- KM / Heartattack Magazine Issue 5, Feb. 1995
*****Big Fish were formed in Stadthagen , Niedersachsen (Germany), in 1992, when all BF-members were attending the Ratsgymnasium . Before that, Flo and Pelt played in a band called Dr. Sommer Team, sometimes including one or the other future Wax. On Wax. Offer . Tanner, on the other hand, played in a band with Alex , that was called something with "Sub", I think, but - alas! - can't remember! Ha! Alex just wrote in to tell me they were called SUBFORCE! Thanks! Anyhoo:
After playing several shows in Schaum-, Bücke-, Magde-, and Cloppenburg, releasing two tapes and a 7" EP, Big Fish broke up due to severe ka-hooting withing the ranks and with much ado in 1994 (while the record was still being pressed to boot!). Tanner (voc), Flo (dr) & Jens (b) formed a band called Veil with Raoul Festante, whereas guitarist Pelt went into slight insanity and began exploring the world of homerecording .
As of today, he's still doing that and various other interesting things , while Tanner (whose real name is Nils ) also used to be in an ensemble called Byron , but now plays in two bands: Königin Mutter and Situation Leclerq . As we speak Flo and Veil singer Raoul are still pursuing the hardcore grail with their band I Defy . The whereabouts of Jens are unknown, at least to Pelt (that's me) who's writing these words on a rainy summer evening in 2007. Thanks!
***** Speaking of which - thanks in retrospect and futuristic panorama are due to at least these people for helping Big Fish along their stumbly way: All our families!, X Marc Lohausen X, The mighty Lübby , Timo Veltmann (without whom this page would either be silent or filled with crappy demo recordsins only), Holgermeyer, Ngoc, Memet, Christian Wück , Anne Möhre, Ömmel, Mark Wehrmann , Christopher Fucks, Miki... this list is gonna grow, fellas!
***** Oh, and if you feel inclined to buy a real life vinyl copy of the songs you're listening to right now - I personally don't have any spare ones... But thanks to the internet, there's a variety of possibilities, ranging from cheeeeeaaaaapppp over, well, frankly, more than we even charged for them back in the days when they were new, even stretching out to a remarkable NINE EUROS , not including postage, I suppose. Good luck, buddy. Of course you can always swap that lil goodie . I, personally, would buy it in the Netherlands . You know, just for the thrill of purchasing it outside of Germany. And, hey - € 1? That's really thrifty!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnd, here's one more, not for sale, though, but still nice:
Big Fish on discogs.com , thanks Yeesland, unbekannterweise.
