)) (( forever...
No, seriously:
Music*, food & stuff
* my own music can be found here , or by simply clicking on the "other" Pelt Sematary* down in the friends section!
Ch-ch-check it out!
Ramses, Joey, John Peel.
Yeah, I know. Tough luck, chicken butt...
More realistically - John Cusack , Carrie Brownstein & Kim Deal
And if I had a choice I'd like to live in this song: Shocker In Gloomtown as performed by the Breeders (written by Bob Pollard from Guided By Voices. He's in the video, too, you know).
I guess it all really boils down to the Ramones , cause they hit me like a Blitzkrieg with their Bop and Hop when I was just a kid.
Another one of my ALLtime Faves is a band called
ALL , which in my dictionary includes the Descendents and also Goodbye Harry !
My favorite ALLbum, by the way, is "Allroy's Revenge !
Sadly it seems that neither ALL nor the Descendents are very active theses days. But - former ALL-singer Scott Reynolds teamed up with hopefully-still-ALL-guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Egerton recently, to record a couple songs. And their "Sunny Disposition" never fails to make me smile. Whew! More, pleeze!
A band that touches my brain and heart in equal amounts are the amazing Fugazi , even though I'm not sure they're still going. It's been a long time since their last album, and in the meantime most of their members have done other things. Ian MacKaye, for example, is in the Evens , with Amy Farina, and Joe Lally , Fugazi's bass player is doing solo stuff. I don't know what Guy Picciotto , is doing, but the drummer Brendan Canty , is making interesting DVDs!
Some of the most beautiful music I can imagine comes from a lady named Mary Lou Lord .
Donnerwetter, who would have thought? Apparently not me for a while - I just found another favorite band of mine on myspace... The mighty Action Patrol . Not one bad song they have on their three records - two 7"es and an album (yeah, and a live cd). Their "heavycore with sing like chicken" was an important part of my eary twenties soundtrack... Still love it!
I used to be a huge fan of Dinosaur jr. , but to be honest, I'm not so sure about that these days...
It's always fun to check out Lou Barlow 's homepage, though!
One of the bands of the year 2006 undoubtedly - to me - were the New York Dolls .
I got to see them three times (New York - CBGB!, Hamburg & Berlin) and every time was awesome...
...and there will probably always be a place in my heart for Jonathan Richman !
Here are some other bands and musicians I like a lot:
Sleater-Kinney
Eels
Jurassic 5
The amazing Dr. Teeth & Electric Mayhem
Deerhoof
Trio
Halo Benders
Elliott Smith
Lassie Singers
Nilsson
Hüsker Dü ,
The Flaming Lips
Françoise Hardy
Shellac (although I gotta say that this refers mostly to the amazing first two 7"es and "At Action Park". "Terraform" was ok, but "1000 Hurts" - I don't know... Let's see what the next one - dropping soon, supposedly - will be like!)
Jets To Brazil (yes, I like them even more than Jawbreaker, duh!)
Melt-Banana
The Geraldine Fibbers
Daniel Johnston
Breeders
Misfits (we're talking pre-1983, Anzalone style Misfits here, Dood!)
Cake
L7
I used to really like the
Hard-Ons in the early Nineties...
Black Flag
I've been enjoying listening to Laura Nyro a lot, recently
Slayer
Victory At Sea
Victoria Williams
Op Ivy/Rancid
Watt stuff - fIREHOSE, minutemen, DOS & solo!
X-Ray Spex
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Uh, I'm pretty sure there's more to come. Gotta do other stuff now!
