Ana Irene Rodrigues

Ana Irene Vasconcelos Rodrigues was born in 1986 in Puerto-Cabello, Venezuela. With five years old she went to live in Madeira island, Portugal. With the age of eight she started to have piano lessons at the School of music and arts of Madeira(Conservatório-Escola Profissional das Artes da Madeira)www.consmusimadeira.pt). Later on, with 10 years old she started also to play the saxophone, with Duarte Basilio at the same schoo l(www.consmusimadeira.pt). One year later she also started to play in the village fanfare(Banda Municipal de Machico). In the year 2000/2001 Ana Irene entered the Professional Course of Music in the School of music of Madeira, where she finished her high school specialized in music in the year 2003/2004, with the age of 17. During this three years of education she had the chance to participate and play with several groups like wind orquestras, saxophone quartet, choir, big band, comtemporary group. She also did several master-classes and courses Jean-Ives Formeu and his saxophone quartet, Demetrio Mendez, The Coimbra Saxophone Quartet, João Figueiredo, Manuel Silva and Henk van Twillert, etc. During her studies beside many concertes in Madeira, Irene went to perform in Finland, Spain, England, Açores, etc. Since the year 2004/2005, she studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (www.cva.ahk.nl) , as a student of the class from Henk van Twillert (www.saxunlimited.com). Now she is at the 3rd year of the bachelour. She is a member of the Saxophone Ensemble” A..dam Vento do Norte” and the Saxophone quartet, HBQuartet(www.myspace.com/hbquartet).--------I..m a very open music mind person. I..m interested in playing all kind of beautiful music. Making music is my life and the saxophone is the way to express my self.
