It's a Shame the Way Those People Live

About Me

Nottingham puts on shows just for the sake of having music or other events in the house. Nottingham collects no money for shows, so the bands, especially if touring, collect whatever they wish to charge. Most groups play in the beautiful and spacious ground floor ballroom, although the dining room, back porch and back yard have also been used. Most events at Nottingham involve music, but not always. Other events have included fundraisers for the Mifflin Street Cooperative and local politicians, open mike coffeehouses, Radical cheerleading practices, Food Not Bombs cooking sessions, bookclubs, film festivals, breakdancing, Go clubs, bingo nights, Yoga sessions, private or semi-private magickal rituals including multiple performances of Aleister Crowleys' Gnostic Mass, local Chapter meetings of such occult lodges as Ordo Templi Orientis, Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and the Friary/Apostolic Johannite Church, and the Virgo Slut party. For information on organising an event, read the blog ORGANISING AN EVENT.
Sorry, but BAND BOOKINGS DON'T HAPPEN THROUGH THIS MYSPACE PAGE. MESSAGES RE: BOOKING SHOWS TEND TO BE IGNORED. This is because the person looking at the inbox is not necessarily someone who puts on shows. Therefore promotors/bands should contact house members directly (including on their own Myspace pages, many are top friends) to set up shows. Thanks.
and some hopefully not confusing directions to Nottingham if you're venturing out. While the address is technically Langdon St. it is not on Langdon. Instead one way would be take Henry St. (from Langdon) towards Lake Mendota (down the hill.) Turn right onto Iota Ct. Nottingham is the brick building with the red tile roof at the end of Iota Ct., beyond the parking lot, directly straight in front of you. Also no great parking spot might be another problem. Hope this helps!

Band Members: Coop members, actually. Nottingham Cooperative is a 21 room housing cooperative located at 146 Langdon St in Madison, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Mendota. Currently, the membership is composed of a mix of about 20 students and non-students. We like to have shows in our living room.

Tedium!

This week I've been going through old fliers, filling in some bands that played here and linking them and stuff that may or may not be time well-spent. Ehh, probably no one cares, and I'm practically ...

OK Part 2

I moved Organising An Event to the blog section to sound a little less preachy. I have noticed that a lot of bands are still trying to set up shows through this Myspace. That's not the way to do it, ...
