My Interests

Mission Statement:WORT-FM is a non-commercial, listener sponsored, member controlled community radio station broadcasting to south central Wisconsin. WORT volunteers and staff provide quality programming and services to a broad spectrum of the community through:* promotion of communication, education, entertainment, and understanding by providing a forum for both the discussion of public issues and the expansion of musical and cultural experience; * facilitation of community expression and provision of community access to the airwaves for the purpose of sharing music, culture, news, and information; * challenge of the cultural and intellectual assumptions of our listeners through unique and diverse programming; * orientation towards the audience with concern for those under- represented by other media.WORT is committed to radio programming with a human perspective -- respecting all peoples and their environments.

I'd like to meet:

People interested in any kind of progressive music or politics!!!People who dig music that's a little out of the mainstream (or even a lot out of the mainstream.)People who want to hear grassroots news by and for your community.People who think there's more to radio than Top 40 and obnoxious hosts.Eccentrics, geeks, radicals, and quirky folks of all varieties!People who might think they're ordinary, but sometimes think there should be more to our culture...

Music:

Music Submissions:How do I get my music played on WORT?We accept submissions of most styles of music, focusing on noncommercial, out-of-the-mainstream, independent releases (visit our web site for more information.) In most cases it will take a few weeks for us to receive, review, and process the music. We don't accept electronic submissions because we do not maintain a music library of computer files, so sending it to us that way would not get your music into the hands of our programmers and onto the airwaves. Please send us your releases (full-length CD or vinyl preferred) including a one-sheet description (if applicable, you may also include biographical and tour information) care of the WORT Music Director. Our address and other information is at the bottom of this page.Tracking of your music can be done by email, or you can call on Wednesdays between 1-4 pm central time with any questions such as: Did we receive it, has it been reviewed, has it been added to our library, what kind of airplay is it getting?--e.g. light, medium, heavy or charting. Thanks and we look forward to hearing your music!
