About Me

The Zé Luis Quartet displays an open and free interpretation of Brazilian jazz rhythms never before heard.
Fronted by famed sax and flute player Zé Luis, who has performed and recorded with many Brazilian greats like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Tania Maria, and Bebel Gilberto, the band propels art toward the future.
Having also worked with diverse artists such as Rita Marley, Spearhead, Banda Black Rio, The Wailers, Milo Z, Blondfire, and Ivy, Zé Luis brings a broad range and depth to the music.
Many great musicians have graced our band with their talent: Sizão Machado: electric bass; Paulo Braga: drums; Leco Reis: electric & acoustic bass; David Feldman: keys; Mauro Refosco: percussion; Dom Um Romão: percussion; Sergio Brandão: electric bass; Ricky Sebastian: drums; Arthur Lipner: vibes & marimba; Masa Shimizu: electric guitar; Mark Soskin: piano; Joel Rosenblatt: drums; David Finck: acoustic bass; Dendê: percussion; Helio Alves: keys; Guilherme Monteiro: electric & acoustic guitar; Etienne Stadwijk: keys; and Leo Traversa: electric bass. ____________________________________
