Russ, also know as "Binny" began his craft at the early age of 10 years old. His passion for the drums soon led him to his first "real live performance" and being the tender age of 12 at the SRO Bar and Lounge playing in a band called "Tim Wangen and The AC Rockers." Patrons of the SRO were shocked to see "the little kid" behind the drums. Although Russ was unable to see over his toms, he had raised the level of his passion and began his career. And the rest is History!!
In his 20+ years of playing and performing, Russ has teamed up with bands such as "Vandetta", "Annilhilation", a Twin Cities favorite "Tantrum", "Southern Exposure", "Faded Youth", "ODin Phoenix", and the "Greg Michaels Band" who recently opened up for national act such as "Emerson Drive" and "Trent Willmon". Russ has performed on stages such as "The Mirage", "First Avenue", "7th St. Entry", "The Fine Line", "Povlitzki's", "Half Time Rec", "Renegades", "St Croix Live", Salida Depot, Git-er-Dun Saloon - just to name a few. Russ has also done some time in the studio setting at MasterMix Studios in Minneapolis. Russ has played in in a diverse assortment of bands over the years- metal, rock, country, and Jam bands! Now the full time Drummer in Iron Horse, his playing style is a complex reflection of all those project experiences- his kinetic and dynamic grooves drive and anchor the sound of any rythmn section. Make sure to check out www.ironhorserocks.com and sneak a peak at the show schedule, then visit one of the shows and introduce yourself. See you at the show!!
Russ plays: Gretsch Drums, Evans EC2 & G1 Heads, Zildjian Cymbals, Pearl Hardware, Axis AL2 Bass Pedals, and Vic Firth Drum Sticks.

My Interests

"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in the mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function." F. Scott Fitzgerald"Other than the obvious; DRUMS. Bring it on! Being a musician, I love to make people feel good, take in the groove and get up and dance the night away. Being on stage, playing live, whether it be a BIG or small venue, indoors or out, entertaining the crowds and the fans and first and foremost, doing what I love, is a natural "High". ;) No drugs or artificials needed for this Cat!
