About Me

As a bassist, songwriter and arranger, Johnee truly lives for the music. He has spent over 25 years developing his trademark style while recording and touring with national original acts 1000 Pleasures (a 1994 MN Music Academy Rock Album of the Year nominee), Rainmaker and Sugarslide. Having spent many weeks on the CMJ (College Music Journal) national radio charts (including impressive worldwide independent album sales and a string of Top 10 internet MP3 downloads) qualifies him as no stranger to the music industry. Johnee spent his younger years cutting his "musical teeth" playing live shows around his hometown of Minneapolis, MN as well as at world famous clubs on the Sunset Strip such as the Whiskey-a-go-go and the Roxy Music Theater while living out his dreams in Hollywood, CA. Influenced By classic melodic progressive rock acts like Journey, Led Zeppelin and Rush have helped Johnee develop and deliver the means to give the perfect shape and color to his unique style of writing and performing live. ------------------ Little known facts about Johnee... • Wrote his first song @ 9 years old. Was inspired by the theme song to the 70's TV series "Sigmond the Sea Monster". • Doesn't smoke or do drugs. What kind of "rocker" is this? LOL! • Was #2 on the CMJ charts, right under Green Day in many states, with the melodic/progressive band "1000 Pleasures". • Was #2 on internet downloads (indielaunch.com) in 2001 with Sugarslide. • Had released and sold Rainmaker's "Walk on Water" albums in 7 countries including Australia, Japan and Germany. Think Top 40... • Was a guest DJ on Rock 100.3. • Has written over and recorded 100 original songs. • Graduated from Anoka High School in Anoka, MN, home of 1989 Ms. America, Gretchen Carlson. • Studied to be a chef and restraunt manager during High School. • His #1 fan died in the spring of 2005...His Dad. • He was adopted at 3 months old. • He is of German, Irish, Scottish and Sioux Indian decent. • His birthday is October 2nd.___________________________________________

Music:

I love it all to a certain degree. I listen to everything from Jazz to Blues to R&B to Melodic Rock and Metal to Country to Talk Radio. Come on! I grew up in the sticks. I had nothing better to do than to listen to a lot of AM radio in the 70's and my KISS and K-Tel records. And you wonder why I'm so messed up =) (Just kidding!!)

Movies:

Obviously...STAR WARS! I like them all, but Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back) is the best one of the 6 films. I like anything that can actually make me laugh out loud. I'll list more later.

Television:

Is there really anything good on anymore? I like old TV shows like the Dukes of Hazzard/CHiPs/Three's Company/Road Runner etc. I do like 24, Prison Break, The Simpson's and The Family Guy though. Maybe even "smart" TV like the History Channel (never paid enuff attention in school...now it's interesting!) and the Discover Channel or similar programing like that. OK...VH1 and GAC are cool too! Yay...MUSIC!!

Books:

Star Wars Magazines and books are cool, especially info on old toys or the acyual movies are quite interesting...go figure. I know...I'm a geek, but I'm NOT a TREKKIE!!! I do like newspapers or reading anything online.

Heroes:

My Guardian Angels (for all the repeated chances in life to get it right...again!), Randy Rhoads and Neal Schon (Amazing showmanship/players), Bob Daisley (Ozzy Osbourne/Uriah Heep), Ross Valory (Journey), Greg Chassion (Badlands) and John Entwhistle (The Who) (for my main influential bass style), Gene Simmons (music/entertainment business), Journey (introduced me to melodic rock music), RUSH and YES (incredible prog-rock musicians), My Girl, Chrysta (unconditional love and MEGA support, even though I don't deserve it most of the time!), Eric Althaus (for being a REAL true friend unconditionally) and all my close friends, because without them...I really do suck! ...And of course, YOU, for reading this and being a friend!
