Thanx to all those that unknowingly supplied the clips and sequences for the above video of our track 'Yesterday'. This is also the full 10 minute version as opposed to the version playing in the default player.
I surpose the history of Triacyde and how it begun started
with a covers band called Alien. The band played a whole mix of covers but not the usuall bog
standards such as 'Paranoid' 'Smoke On The Water' et al. This band was playing
album tracks from such bands as UFO, Rory Gallagher, BOC to name a few. They
found that this went down extremely well with audiences all over the South East
of England and were a reasonably sort after band. At that point the band
consisted of Innis Barford - Vocals, Dave Carter - Guitar, Dean E Holt - Bass
and Syd Farrell - drums.
The band split up in a hail of bust-ups and finally called it a day in 2001.
Dean and Syd went on the join Tony Hill's Fiction fronted by cult guitarist Tony
Hill.
In the mean time another little bunch of noise merchants called 'Leon', a great
Punk/Metal band were making waves around London who went on to change the name
to SWINE (Lisa Warden: vocals, Leon Hope: Bass & Mike Mahon: Drums) and go on to
support a few name bands. Again, the band imploded, not through attutdes and ego
- they just split. They recording one CD at 'De Bretts' studio.
Guitar player Gary Mason who become good friends with Dean (Holt) got together
with Syd and Innis for a few freak-out jams in local studios around East London.
In all, the band only ever actually played together no more than maybe 8 - 9 -
10 times and finally (again) split up after playing one memerable show
supporting Tony Hill's Fiction. After this gig, Gary Mason was called away to
the Isle of Wight on personal business (and still lives there).
Triacyde was dead. Or so they thought. Dean wanted to record what the band had
jammed the previous year. They hadn't played together for six months but decided
to book a studio for a few days and literally jam what they had. The band was
booked into Harlow Square Studios for three days to record, add overdubs and mix
the whole thing in 3 days. Unfortunately, Innis was left out as they wanted a
purely instrumental album and no vocal. They had one rehearsal the night before
which went so well that some of the recordings from the rehearsal are concidered
to be as good as the 16 track DAT recordings they recorded afterwards (power,
passion and volume) The result of the one rehearsal and three days in a studio
can be heard above in the little music player above. It isn't perfect but given
just one day to record a whole album it's a small fee.
After Ree moved to The Isle of Wight the Triacyde project and band went into a
state of flux and since the distances involved with travelling albut made it
impossible to carry on as a viable band.
This resulted in the HMP Project (Holt, Mason Project) that involved going back
to lo-hi recording of which some very interesting tracks were produced (a couple
of these may well go up on the site).
Presently, Dean & Gary are working within their own bands and have had no plans
to reform Triacyde at this time (But watch this space). Shame really 'cos they
were a really talented bunch. With more time reheasing the songs/tracks would of
developed a lot more and gone on to play more shows. This is what fate does.
From the beginning there was always going to be something that prevented the
band from going further.....
