Katie Down

Katie Down is a professional composer, sound designer for theatre and film, and performer of many kinds of music including ambient, free improvisaiton, noise improv, and bawdy songs from the 20s and 30s. Katie's instruments include: flute, glass percussion, all kinds of ukes, a host of homemade instruments, acoustic guitar, piano, and voice. Katie's sound designs have garnered her a reputation as one of the most versitile composers and sound artists in New York. She is a member of the New York Society of Acoustic Ecology and conducts soundwalks privately and for groups. Katie is currently represented by Brett Adams, Ltd. Her current big project is getting a second masters degree in Music Therapy. Her interests are teaching what she can to those who are interested, learning what she can from those who have things to share, and exchanging ideas and positive energies with as many people as possible.
