Chris Becker

About Me

Composer Chris Becker lives and works in New York City composing, arranging, and recording music for a wide variety of solo and collaborative projects. He has composed music for dance, film, and mixed-media installations. His music has premiered in clubs, galleries, and music and dance festivals across the country. He has received grants and awards from the American Music Center, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Meet The Composer and ASCAP.

Saints & Devils CD release (November 9, 2006) - Inspired by songs, stories and icons of the deep south. Featuring performances by Reverend Vince Anderson, James Hall, Lynn Wright (Gachupin), Jon Petrow (The Cloud Room), Charlie Miller (Dr. John), Dana Schechter (Bee and Flower), Nick Beaudoing (The Doc Marshalls), Louis Romanos (Permagrin), Eyal Maoz and many more. All sampled material used by permission. All rights reserved.
Also 200 Birds - Music created to accompany New Orleans artist Jacqueline Bishop's mixed media installation Terra. . Features performances by Lynn Wright, Lainie Diamond and Chris Michael.
Current:
Co-production work with bassist, singer, band leader Jeremiah Hosea. Silver Threads - a collaborative project with guitarist, singer Peg Simone (more details to come...).
Past:
Like Dirt (February 2008) - a mixed media collaboration with choreographer Rachel Cohen and sculptor Patty Rosenblatt. Also posted above is the third movement from my first piece for classical guitar Delta performed by Dan Sumner. The score will be available soon for purchase. Details to come.
