About Me

Born in Mt. Vernon, Washington, the same town that Jesus (Jim Caviezel) was born. Lived in Lake Forest Park, age 1-5, on the north end of Lake Washington. A wonderful home, right on the lake. Lived in the Tri-Cities, Pasco, specifically, age 6-13, out by the Columbia River...on Road 80. Moved to Spokane just in time for the "Big Folk Scare Of The 60's". Lived there for three years, then moved to Yakima for my last 2 years of high school. Off to Los Angeles the next year to pursue music. Publishing deals, production deals, groups, recording and club work followed. Back and forth to Seattle, then came King City, CA, Topanga Canyon, South Bay, San Diego, Phoenix, and finally Coalinga, CA, where I met my wonderful, best friend, darling wife, Karen. A few years later, our first son, Taylor, was born. Packed up and went to Tulsa for 2 years where our second son, Linden, was born. Then came Levelland, TX ("no alarming bumps on the horizon to mar a beautiful sunset", and "if you look west, real careful....you can see the back of your own head"). Back to Coalinga, then Redlands and The Rock for 7 years. Pit stop in Lancaster, CA, and finally, (what took us so long to get here?) we came home to Nashville.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: none
Band Members: just me
Influences: Earliest thing I remember is my mother playing the piano. She had her degree in piano and composition, and had an all-girl band that did some vaudeville show tours. She taught piano while I grew up, and played classical, jazz (Andre Previn), and standards ("Tea For Two"). Early memories of the family singing in the car, harmonizing. My two sisters had great voices. Early television music...The Everly Brothers on Ed Sullivan, the old Tex Ritter Show, with the Collins Kids (they were AMAZING!). The first lp I bought (and still have) was "Dobie" by Dwayne Hickman (it had hilarious songs on it). Then one fateful day, my sister, Judy, taught me "My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean" on the ukelele, and I was hooked. I loved the old Stephen Foster songs...and was ready for the Kingston Trio, The Limeliters, the Brothers Four, and then Peter, Paul & Mary, when they burst on the scene. So many folk influences: Ian & Sylvia, Gordon Lightfoot, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Tom Paxton, Tom Lehrer, Phil Oches, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Eric Anderson, The Smothers Brothers, The Big Three, Tim Rose, Shel Silverstein, Simon & Garfunkle, The Mamas and the Papas, Donovan, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, Davy Graham, Pentangle, The Beatles, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Country Joe & The Fish, The Youngbloods, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, Herb Peterson, Clarence White, Fairport Convention, Blodwyn Pig, Doc Watson, Mississippi Fred MacDowell, Arlo Guthrie, Elton John. The list goes on forever, doesn't it? Like, everyone I've ever heard! Julian Bream, Segovia, Montoya. Tim Hardin. James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Cockburn. Big thanks to my friend, Paul Potash, who had been in The New Christy Minstrels, and worked the door at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. He got me in to see so many amazing artists there, and I will be forever grateful...thanks! All the people I've had the great fun and privilege to play with: starting with my brother, John, the girls in Spokane, the Concords in Yakima, then L.A.: Li'l Jimmy Rolleston, Seals & Crofts, Chris Crosby, Bernie Pearl, Jim Fielder, Paul Potash, the one and only Dale Bobbitt, Dan Dugmore, Hilton Valentine, Barrie Jenkins, Ove (Henry) Gregerson, Marc McClure, Ron Eglit, Kevin Kelley, Pal-Fattie, C.W.
