Sono nato il 3 agosto 1978 e suono e scrivo canzoni dall'ormai lontano 1993, quando comprai la prima chitarra acustica (un cesso di Samick da tre palle e un soldo). Sapendo fare solo 4 accordi, scrissi "Hero", un brano idiota ma melodicamente non proprio da buttare. Seguirono "People", "Depend On The Rain" e "In My Father's Arms". Ascoltando soprattutto Bob Dylan volevo un pò emulare la facilità di scrittura di canzoni semplici, ma essenziali, con una melodia unita magari ad un testo significativo. Con l'approfondimento dei testi di Dylan e Springsteen infatti mi inoltrai infatti in una delle mie passioni cioè la musica unita alle American Highways, storie di uomini e di libertà nel contesto di tutto ciò che ci circonda, dal lavoro all'amore, alla vita in generale. Per fortuna ho avuto un grande supporter e un grande amico in Leonardo Ceccanti, con cui ho intrapreso le prime serate dal vivo (indimenticabile la prima, al "Tuscany" a Cecina, con un impianto da schifo e un repertorio quasi ridotto all'osso). Io e Leo abbiamo girato un bel pò di locali e fatto parecchie serate all'insegna di rock, country, blues, folk e pop tutto rigorosamente unplugged. Dopo un pò la cosa più bella forse è che l'alchimia era talmente solida che non avevamo più bisogno di fare prove o comunque bastava un cenno per capirsi. Nel 1997 siamo finiti in studio a incidere insieme agli East & West, formazione della zona distribuita dalla Harmony Music, in un Cd di cover intitolato "West Coast", dove Leo era un pò il factotum (svariava dalla chitarra al basso alle percussioni), mentre io mi relegai a sviolinare l'assolo di armonica nella cover di "Heart Of Gold" di Neil Young. Da lì mi sono inoltrato in svariate serate dal vivo con Leo e gli East & West (anche se non da protagonista). Il bis con gli East & West arriva due anni dopo, ma stavolta la band sceglie di incidere una mia canzone nel nuovo Cd (titolo omonimo, distribuito dalla Les Enfants du Paradis) cioè "Midnight Stagecoach", dove la voce è del leader Alessandro Corsini e dove io mi limito a suonare l'armonica e fare una parte delle Backing Vocals. Grande opportunità quella, se non altro di poter incidere insieme a talenti del calibro di Geppy Frattali (ex bassista con Zucchero) e Walter Calloni (forse il batterista n. 1 in Italia). La vena compositiva continua, la SIAE fatica quasi a mandarmi le ricevute delle canzoni che mando loro; quello che si affloscia leggermente è la vita on stage, a causa del tanto lavoro e delle sempre più ferree regole cittadine che non consentono a molti locali di ospitare musicisti (addirittura costretti a eseguire perizie acustiche piuttosto costose). Quindi il grosso arriva con i tour nei camping estivi, comunque divertentissimi e, anzi, più che soddisfacenti, in quanto i turisti tedeschi e olandesi vanno matti per quel genere di musica che svaria da Simon & Garfunkel a Bruce Springsteen. Ultimamente si è unito alle mie "scorribande" anche Luca Burgalassi, altro amico di zona e talentuoso chitarrista diplomato a pieni voti alla "Lizard" di Fiesole, già chitarrista degli East & West, con il quale ho fatto diverse serate in campeggi e locali del posto.
I was born on 1978, August 3rd, and I play and write songs since 1993, when I bought my first acoustic guitar (a cheap dreadful “Samickâ€). Able to do just 4 chords, I wrote “Heroâ€, an idiot song but with a nice melody, followed up by “Peopleâ€, “Depend On The Rain†and “In My Father’s Armsâ€. Especially listening to Bob Dylan, I wanted to emulate the simplicity of writing easy listening and essential songs, with expressive lyrics. Goin’ on studying lyrics by Dylan and Springsteen I got into one of my deepest passions, that’s music about the American highways, tales about men and freedom and about what’s goin’ on around us, from job to love, to the whole life. I’ve been lucky to have a great supporter and special friend like Leonardo Ceccanti, with whom I enjoyed the first live performances (unforgettable the first one, at the “Tuscany†in Cecina, with such a dreadful equipment and a limited tracklist). Leo and I have gone ‘round here through a few spots and clubs and done so many performances playing rock, country, blues folk and pop extremely unplugged. After a while the alchemy got more consolidated and we didn’t need to get test anymore, it took just a couple of nods to understand each other. In 1997 we went into a Studio recording with East & West, local country-rock band published by Harmony Music, in “West Coastâ€, a cd full of covers where Leo was kind of a “factotum†(playing guitars, bass or percussions), while I banished myself in playing the Harmonica solo in Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold†cover. I began to travel and play with Leo and East & West band (even if I hadn’t leading roles). Two years later I repeated the co-operation with East & West, but the band straight decided to record one of my songs for the new album (“East & Westâ€, published by Les Enfants du Paradis), that’s “Midnight Stagecoachâ€, where the leader Alessandro Corsini plays as leading vocalist and where I play the Harmonica and get a role in the backing vocals. That’s been a great opportunity, to record with talented musicians as Geppy Frattali (Zucchero’s former bass player) and Walter Calloni (Maybe the italian No. 1 drummer). My songwriting inspiration goes on; what was slowly getting “floppy†was the life on stage, because of hard working and of the hard rules in my hometown, forcing the club owners not to engage musicians (they were obliged in paying expansive sound reports). So the biggest stuff went with summer camping music tours, funny and satisfying, because of the enthusiasm of the tourists, crazy ‘bout that “vintage†sound from Simon & Garfunkel to Bruce Springsteen. A new friend has recently enjoyed my musical “raidsâ€, Luca Burgalassi, talented guitar player full mark graduated in Lizard School in Fiesole and East & West band’s lead guitar player, with whom I got a few good performances in local camping clubs and bars.
