This is what Sydney has been waiting for... sadly no, not a healthier rainfall in the catchment area... but the possibility of its own truly alternative rock radio program gracing its airwaves and playing Australian talent ONLY!!
A station has received the initial proposal already, so I thought it wouldn't harm the cause by opening this site to showcase just how much of a passion there is in our city for this music and culture which is barely being promoted in our media at the moment.
On this site you will be able to find the potential playlist (which will be frequently updated) to assist in giving you an idea of the music this program would be promoting. Also, below is a brief outline of what is to be included over the course of the show (other than the kickarse tunes).
Sydney Gig Guide Segment: This segment would be looking to encourage a healthier audience involvement in the reinvigorating of Sydney’s alternative live scene which at the moment is in dire need of a media program which promotes the wondrous qualities it has to offer.
Band of the Week Segment: This segment would generally coincide with a band playing shows in Sydney on the week of broadcast. It would include a two or three song plug of the band’s tunes; CD, t-shirt, and/or gig ticket prizes; and occasional band interviews (pre-recorded or live).
Community Involvement Segment: This segment would highlight community events and programs of note and inspire audience participation.
Top Requests Chart: Once established, the program would be looking to showcase which tunes Sydney listeners find hot in the alternative rock scene.
Program Community/Rock Events: Once established, the program would be looking to extend its involvement in the community and the live music scene with the organisation of events.
So if you like what we have in store for you show your support by adding The Sydney Alternative Scene as a Myspace Friend and posting a comment displaying your encouragement/opinions to assist in making sure your alternative voice is finally heard.
Note: This is a site which welcomes all alternative music enthusiasts. We shall not be accepting random adds from individuals who do not share our passions. Bands and promoters of events are also welcome to respectfully post their invites here only if they relate to the musicians featured on the project's playlists. Spam will be removed! Cheers
