About Me
With an anointing given by God and a strong conviction and faith in Him, Demetral Butler affectionately ministers the gospel through song. Evident are her passion for Christ and enthusiasm for pure ministry. From her youth, Demetral has displayed her God-given gifts and talents, as she could regularly be found singing on her church choirs and playing musical instruments in her high school band. A native of Lancaster, SC where she attended church, she received vital spiritual guidance under the pastoral care of her parents, Doctors Eddie and Virginia McIlwain. During these years she established a solid spiritual and musical foundation, which would go on to mold her into the psalmist she is today. For many years, Demetral traveled throughout the eastern U.S., proclaiming the gospel as a background vocalist for choirs and community groups such as, The North Greenville University BSF Choir and Larry McCullough and Chosen Generation. In recent years she has pursued her goals of ministering as a solo artist. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Demetral recorded her debut CD, “For His Gloryâ€. The CD exudes her passion for worshiping God and exhibits her earnest approach to ministry. Additionally, it has provided her avenues to minister to individuals that she may have otherwise not had the opportunity to minister to. On her debut CD she wrote 1 song and co-wrote the title track, For Your Gloryâ€, with her husband who penned the majority of the project. Her husband was also given the task of producing the project along with producer Kerry McBroomDemetral has been blessed to both share the stage with, and sing back up for, gospel artists such as Charles and Taylor, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Dorothy Norwood, Norman Hutchins, and many other gospel music legends. While she’s enthused about the events occurring in her ministry of music, she realizes that ministry begins with what she does on a personal level. Demetral is very passionate about pleasing God by living holy on a daily basis and living upright before the family she loves. She cherishes her personal time with God and the time given to impact her family. She is the wife of Peter Butler, whom she wedded on May 29, 1999 and the mother two children, Joshua and Kierra. In addition to serving God through her personal ministry, Demetral is also involved in her local church. She currently serves as an Assistant Minister of Music at New Harvest C.O.G.I.C. in Mauldin, SC where the pastor is Pastor Carl A McCluney.
