About Me

Founded in 1989 Bicycling Australia is a magazine with a vision to enhance all aspects of cycling by providing events and information for both trade and consumers. Everything our team does must be of the highest quality and integrity.

In addition to Bicycling Australia we also publish magazines such as Bicycling Trade, Bicycling Yearbook, Bicycling Buyers Guide, Bicycling Australia Show Guide and Mountain Biking Australia.

From 1998 to 2006, we organised the annual Bicycling Australia Show, alternating between Sydney (odd years) and Melbourne (even years).

In 2001 we founded the annual Bicycling Australia Challenge, which is a long distance ride to raise funds for Teen Challenge (since renamed .."One80TC.." in NSW). For more information visit www.tcnsw.org

On 23rd June 2006 we launched BA Gear, which offers a range of cycling merchandise for sale including books, calendars, dvd’s, posters, giftware and jewellery.
This shop is accessiable through our website or simply click here.

During 2006 we also established BA Press, through which we plan to publish a range of cycling books. The first will go on sale during 2007.

Most of us at Bicycling Australia are active cyclists. We are always happy to assist cyclists and readers with any questions or queries they may have.

We are proud to be a founding member of the Cycling Promotion Fund. As its name suggests, the CPF promotes the benefits of cycling. It also lobbies all levels of government.

Our Brand New SITTING PRETTY DVD! This is a promo of a 2 disc DVD set available through Bicycling Australia.
Steve Hogg is the founder of the Sydney Cyclefit Centre. Over the past two decades Steve has personally consulted with close to ten thousand cyclists and optimised their position for comfort and efficiency. During this time Steve has become a world expert on cycle positioning and built a formidable knowledge of closely related topics such as anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.
Despite his depth of technical knowledge, Steve is also a clear communicator This DVD is pitched at a level that even beginner cyclists can understand and benefit from, although there is plenty of information which will inform and even challenge the views of experienced cyclists and coaches.
In the first DVD, Steve gives an overview of his philosophies and how he has come to these conclusions. DVD two is entirely devoted to answering the ten most commonly asked questions about cycle positioning. Each answer includes demonstrations with the help of three cyclists who represent the broad cross section of potential viewers. One model is a short female beginner cyclist. One is an extremely flexible elite racing cyclist and the third is a more senior aged cycle touring enthusiast.
Steve has been one of the most popular writers for Bicycling Australia magazine for the past 15 years. His seminars at the Bicycling Australia Show are always the best attended, often with standing room only. Steve has worthwhile things to say and is able to communicate them clearly and forcefully. We are working on a series of ten short articles, which will correlate to the .."Ten Most Common Questions.." DVD. These articles will be available free of charge, if you are interested in publishing them.
Sitting Pretty Fundaments of Bike Positioning has an Australia recommended retail price of $69.95 including GST. For more details, including wholesale and distribution rights, please contact Phil Latz at BA Gear on phone +61 2 4274 4884 or email [email protected]

My Interests

Après Velo is French for ‘after cycling’. Après Velo clothing is designed and produced by three Australian cycling enthusiasts, for those captivated by cycling. Now you can live the ride.To visit our complete store simply CLICK HEREThis limited edition lithograph was produced to celebrate Eddy Merckx' visit to Australia as special guest of the 2006 Cyclecover Insurance Bicycling Australia Show.It was signed at the show, in the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, Victoria on Friday 13th October 2006. The image used was photographed by Mr Tonny Strouken, a since retired professional cycling photographer from Holland. It was taken during the 1969 Tour de France, showing Eddy wearing the leader's yellow jersey. He held the jersey all the way to Paris, for the first of his five career victories in the Tour de France. By the time of his retirement in 1978, Eddy Merckx had won a record 524 career victories including virtually every major professional event, making him the greatest cyclist of all time. In an uncanny prequel to Lance Armstrong, Greg LeMond had made an amazing two year comeback from near death, in LeMond’s case from a shooting accident, at the time this 1989 Tour de France photo was taken. LeMond beat France’s hero Laurent Fignon seen here on the left, by an amazing eight seconds after a famous finalé time trial in Paris. Greg LeMond added one more Tour de France to his collection the following year, having also won once prior to his accident. This exclusive Horton Collection limited edition poster has been personally signed by Sean and is sold with a lifetime guarantee and certificate of authenticity. It’s a classic Graham Watson photo of Sean Kelly during the 1984 Tour de France. This was the start of Kelly’s unbroken six year reign as the world’s number one ranked cyclist, a record that still stands. Sean Kelly won 22 one day Classics, second only to Merckx, and was famous for his toughness. His professional career spanned an amazing 16 years.
