Goin’ South Band

New Songs in Timeless Styles

About Me

GSB's debut CD, Home In My Heart, will be released on
November 13, 2007.

Goin' South is a smokin' band of Southern California roots musicians who've collectively played every honky-tonk, dusty theater and festival stage from Disney Hall to Lafayette. GSB founder and director
JOHN ZERETZKE has composed tribal-symphonic world music scores for theater, dance, orchestra and film; and has recorded with many well-known artists, including Kenny Loggins. RICK CUNHA started the O-riginal country rock band Hearts and Flowers in the late 60's, from whence the Burrito Brothers, The Eagles and all others evolved. His discography is a bit long for this small space, but includes folk-rock icons Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. VIC KOLER was music director for the Aman Folk Ensemble and has recorded or performed with artists as diverse as Neil Diamond, Gloria Estefan, Buzzy Linhart and Eartha Kitt. RICK SHEA has worked with everyone from roots rock kingpin Dave Alvin to folk chanteuse Katy Moffatt to indie rock legends R.E.M.
CODY BRYANT was first chair banjo at Disneyland before it all went terribly wrong, and is now leader of the legendary cowboy band, the Riders of The Purple Sage. PAUL LACQUES plays with the renowned LA based country band, I See Hawks In L.A. and Double Naught Spy Car. FRED SOKOLOW is a blazin' blues, bluegrass and swing instrumentalist and soloist with over 100 instructional books/DVDs to his name. He has also toured with Tom Paxton, Ian Whitcomb, Bobbie Gentry, Jim Stafford, Jody Stecher and the Limeliters.

GSB puts their own stamp and twist on Bluegrass, Corngrass, Old-Timey Appalachian, Blues, Cajun, Native American, and Old Country Music. "Home In My Heart," their soon to be released debut CD, features brand new original songs in timeless styles.

The boys remain committed to Arts Education, benefiting thousands of young people, and perform hundreds of shows for folks of all ages throughout the nation.

What people are saying

"What is it about the Goin' South Band that makes me think I've known them all my life? Surely there's a kitchen back there where we sat around and heard them play these songs. This is what it's like to have friends with talent."
-- Tom Paxton
“This is the local string bending supergroup you want on your next recording or working live along side of you, whenever you want to elevate the goods or your image. …they put forth a cooperative effort on this project and produce a gem of an album."

-- Joel Okida, FolkWorks
