If you want to see it, you've got to get up in it.

About Me

You can see my MAGIC CASTLE here.
I live in the mountainous desert, in a MAGICAL CASTLE , on the Mexican border. There, in paradise, I never leave my wonderland, stay home and write stories. The castle has its own lure, and people come to me. Every month or so I have some sort of event there, so I don't become incapable of publicly flapping my lips.
Or I did, until I came to visit my mother in New Jersey for a week, during which time her cancer returned and I never went home. That was over 2 years ago. During that time I made wonderful cyber friends on MySpace, and they saw me through everything. I became a blog fanatic, wrote about it all, they kept reading it, and held my hand the whole time. I call them my SpaceBabies.
My mother died over a year ago. But I got stuck back East, both emotionally and physically. My plan has always been to drive home, slowly, meeting many of my SpaceBabies for the first time along the way. I was supposed to leave on my SpaceBaby Road Trip on April First, 07, but in March I got an early April Fool's trick played on me: severely broke my foot in a fashion accident (platform shoes), it still hasn't gotten better, so I still didn't leave.
Meanwhile, my mother's 5 bedroom house sold -- after 53 years without ever having thrown out a thing -- I had to empty out the whole place with 2 broken bones in my foot, became completely disabled again, had nowhere to live, needed physical and psycho therapy, so I STILL didn't leave.
I moved onto a friend's couch in Harlem, continued to need both therapies -- as one was teaching me to walk again and the other, hopefully, teaching me to be functional again, in a few areas besides writing. 7 months later, still in that NY apartment, could no longer afford the psychotherapy, not able to stay there much longer, and then FINALLY, I got to leave!
AM NOW OFFICIALLY ON THE SPACEBABY ROAD TRIP, SLOWLY MEANDERING MY WAY HOME IN TIME FOR THE SPRING WILDFLOWERS IN THE DESERT.
Retraction: I'm sidetracked in Atlanta -- my perfect charm -- a slave to the magic....
But then IT'S ALL IN THE BLOG, which started in the summer of '05. If you click back, you can pretty much learn everything about me, raw. If that's what you want.
