The 11th Edwood FilmFest seeks new leadership for
'08 from short films of 15-minutes or less for inclusion in the People's Film
Festival as we showcase the best in short film from around the world at the
Spectrum8 Theatre, September 19th-26th, 2008.

SCRIPT WRITING CONTEST 2008
Win this contest! Is your Microsode the best candidate?
Write-In your Microsode!
All the action, drama, comedy and suspense of a
full length feature film wrapped into a 5 minute reoccurring series. You write
it!
Submit at least two 5 minute screenplays using reoccurring characters,
themes and places (think trilogies, sequels, miniseries or episodes. Think
Microsodes!). Submit it in screenplay format. Write it in and watch it win! Cash
prizes and awards.
Best Script - $500
The Top 10 scripts will receive a written critique from professional
Hollywood Screenwriters.
The Top 10 scripts will be work-shopped in April / May / June of 2008
through the Edwood FilmFest's People's Film Camp.
One of the Top 10 scripts will be produced during the spring / summer of
2008 and sent to Hollywood where industry professionals will do
post-production work.
This film will premiere at the 11th Edwood FilmFest, September 19th-25th,
2008!
Microsode Script-writers are encouraged to take one of the screenwriting
seminars offered through the People's Film Camp.
Script submissions are waived for all screenwriting students. Cost for the
course is only $15 after script submission fee.
Screenplay (s) should be submitted with a synopsis, author
biography, contact, and $20.

The People's Film Camp and Weekend
Film Contests 2008
As your short film party we pledge to bring people together to
make original films! Whether you're a novice interested in filmmaking, want to
expand your skills, or you have an artistic vision for the big screen, the
People's Film Camp is the place to collaborate on your creative goals. You'll
join a community of seasoned professionals and fresh artistic voices who share
your passion for making stories into films.
Learn the craft of filmmaking from our faculty of industry
professionals. Become part of the vibrant network of independent collaborators
making films in New York's Capital Region. In the legendary words of Yoda;
"Don't talk. Do."
Our power-packed intensive camp gives you the concepts,
hands-on support and opportunities required for filmmakers to develop and
participate in film projects. We will workshop original screenplays towards
production that will be edited in Hollywood, California by industry
professionals.
The People's Film Camp is committed to educating, inspiring
and encouraging the participation and development of a community of active
filmmakers.
Here's how we're doing it in 2008! We're running three
separate Film Camp sessions (Choose one or go to them all) (The cost is $30 /
Film Camp session):
Film Camp #1 - Saturday, April 26-Sunday, April 27.
Film
Camp #2 – Saturday, May 17-Sunday, May 18.
Film Camp #3 – Saturday, June
14-Sunday, June 15.
Our 2-day Film Camp takes place at Albany's Steamer 10
Theater, 500 Western Avenue, Albany, New York. We begin at 10am sharp and run
until 5pm.
Saturday camp will deliver power-packed, hands-on sessions on
the how-to's of low-budget, inspired filmmaking. Our professional instructors
will deliver stimulating theory, lecture, and most importantly, bring our
campers specific technical, resource and practical knowledge. All our Film
Campers will receive instruction in Acting for Film, Capturing Sound, Directing,
Cinematography, Editing, Green Screen, Lighting, Make-up & Costume, Set
Dressing & Design, Music, Pre-Production, Budgeting and Screenwriting.
Sunday camp will split into groups overseen by our
professional instructors and through the workshop process prepare for a short
film that will be produced during the following weekend.
Weekend Film Contests:
Here's how we're doing it in 2008! We're running three
separate Weekend Film Contests. (Choose one weekend or go to them all) (The cost
is $30 / Weekend Film Contest but is waived for Film Camp participants):
Weekend Film Contest #1 - Saturday, May 3-Sunday, May
4.
Weekend Film Contest #2 – Saturday, May 23-Sunday, May 24.
Weekend Film
Contest #3 – Saturday, June 21-Sunday, June 22.
Individual filmmakers and / or their teams must sign-up in
advance to receive the official rules governing that Weekend Film Contest.
Participants will be emailed the particular rules by ewfilm at 5pm on the Friday
before the designated Weekend Film Contest weekend. Film Camp participants will
produce the film that they have workshopped in the previous week's People's Film
Camp, but will have an additional particular rule that must be followed during

films will be screened as part of the 11th Edwood FilmFest at the Spectrum 8
Theatre September 19-25, 2008 and be eligible for prizes in the Short Film
Contest category.
We're also offering through our People's Film Camp Academy a
screenwriting class. Understanding that the blueprint for any great film is
story we'll bring our campers the seasoned distillation of screen storytelling
essentials.
SCREENWRITING 1 - Learn the essentials of
writing professional screenplays. Learn the techniques and structural elements
used to tell a screen story. Students receive a comprehensive grounding in
story, character, theme, action, visuals and dialogue. How-to-do-it knowledge
presented as an intensive seminar. (3 hours) – (EWSW081)
