About Me

Where to begin...hmmm...I bought a bass on my 16th birthday while attending Wilson High in Washington DC. Ian Mackaye and Henry Rollins were 2 of my classmates. My first band was called Frozen Heat; we practiced in a cold room and the only way to warm our hands was on my dog Poozer's fur. Then I met a drummer named Kevin Morales who could play all of Neil Peart's stuff when he was 16. We started a band that did mostly Rush covers except we tried to do 'em faster! Then I met a guitarist named John Tsakanikas who could play any Van Halen solo when he was 17...more on him later. Kevin & I started a power trio called Zeus with a young guitarist named Dave Lizmi who later was in The Four Horsemen (American Records). Ray Daniels (manager of Rush) wanted to showcase us but we broke up instead:( Then I went to Berklee College Of Music for 1 semester and started another power trio called Die which was offered a management contract and radio airplay but ended up (you guessed it) breaking up! Then I moved out to LA and a guitarist named West Arkeen auditioned for a band I was starting. West later became a songwriter for Guns 'N Roses, Alice Cooper and many more before he died of an overdose of heroin:( Anyway, we worked with Paul Rothchild who produced The Doors. I had met Paul's son Dan (who plays bass for Beck now) at Berklee. Paul wanted to get us in the studio and showcase for labels but before that could happen we....repeat after me....BROKE UP! A little side note...Duff (bassist for G 'n R) arranged for me to audition for a little known (at the time) metal band called Metallica; he even bought me a plane ticket to SF but I didn't go because I didn't know anything about 'em. Isn't this a somewhat frustrating biography so far? (you ain't seen nothing yet)... I decided to start my own "metal" band called The Power Trio From Hell. Dave Lizmi came out to LA and joined me and a drummer named Brian Walsh (who's brother David played for The Exies). Lizmi quit to join the Horsemen with Rick Rubin and we flew out John Tsakanikas to replace him. A couple of years later (one could write an entire book about these 2 years but to make a long story short) we auditioned for Rob Cavallo of Warner Brothers. He loved us and brought in his dad Bob as manager. Bob previously had managed John Sebastian, Little Feat, Weather Report, Prince, Earth Wind & Fire and many more. He now heads Hollywood Records. Rob signed and produced Green Day, My Chemical Romance and others. We got Eddie Kramer (Zeppelin, Kiss, Frampton, Hendrix, the list goes on) to produce us and Mike Shipley (Mutt Lange's assistant producer) mixed some tracks. Brian Walsh (who met an untimely end years later by shooting himself) was replaced by Kevin Morales during this time. It took over 12 months (and dozens of studios, engineers and hundreds of thousands of $s) to produce American Man, our only CD. Tsakanikas quit the band the day we were supposed to do a video. I got another manager (our 4th) named Todd Singerman who was also involved with Motorhead. He arranged a cross-country tour for us with them and Black Sabbath but Warners dropped us before it happened. I moved back to Boston and started a band called Load which became Brian Fox & Load and was signed to Top-Notch records (an Indie). We sold over 250,000 units of an EP called Emerging Artists (Breaking Through). Then we were dropped one day before going into the studio to make a full CD....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I then escaped to Carnival Cruise Lines and played on ships for several months and ended up in Miami and then FRANCE (another long story). I started a band called Chocolate Spinach which was downloaded over a million times on Napster and other file sharing networks but I made nothing because it was all FREE! Then I ended up back in the USA (another long chapter) and started Meewsic Records. We signed dozens of artists before the investors flaked out. Then I discovered the remarkable power of positive thoughts. All great things start with a thought. The mind is a very powerful entity. If you think you're going to fail you probably will. They say "when the student is ready the teacher appears" and I say when ANYONE is ready for ANYTHING it HAPPENS (provided it follows the laws of the universe). It isn't easy to drive out negative views/thoughts/wishes etc. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote about the power of thoughts and following one's heart...beautiful stuff...if you put it into practice! I want to work with people who feel similar.B
