Imagination is everything, it is the preview of life's coming attractions.

About Me

My name is Shawn. I live in Amsterdam, for now. I currently own the house I'm living in, but don't like the thought of being tied down to a place for 30 years at this point in my life, but for now I'm settled and liking the homeowner's life.
I was born and raised in Albany, NY (Colonie more specifically). I graduated from Colonie Central High School in 2001. I moved to Boston for a while after graduation to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology, studying Architecture. Moved back to Albany, went to SUNY Albany, studied Business, and then finally settled with studying Philosophy as a Major and Film as a Minor. Also, when I returned to Albany in 2002, I got involved in the film industry, as an actor first, then moved behind the camera, though recently I'ved gotten the "bug" to get back in front of a camera as well.
I am self-employed, working as a Cinematographer / Director of Photography, but am a "jack of all trades" and will work as anything on a set. Even a bad day on a film set is better than any day in an office. In 2003, I created Bishop Productions, my own production company, we've produced about a dozen short films and most recently, a feature film that I wrote, directed, and produced, entitled "Pawn". We have a couple things to reshoot in the Spring and then it will be just about done.
Although I have Bishop Productions to keep me occupied, my primary focus at the moment is my Cinematography and trying to get myself more out there as a Cinematographer. I have worked on approximately three dozen short films and ten feature length films, serving as the Director of Photography on more than half the short films and a hand full of the features.
When I have more time, I will post up my updated Director of Photography reel for you all to enjoy (hopefully) and some other things I've done.
My other passion is for pool. I have been a member of the American Poolplayers Association for two years now. In two years, I am more than pleased with my acoomplishments thus far. In February 2007, I became the first person in our region to ever win both the 8-ball AND 9-ball Singles Northeast Championships together at one event as well as one of the quickest, I have only played a little under 100 career matches in either 8-ball or 9-ball. I went to Las Vegas in April 2007 and competed in the National Singles Championships, finishing 5th in the country for 8-ball and 9th for 9-ball in my tier, the highest anyone from our region has placed in the Nationals. In June 2007, the 9-ball team my Dad and I co-captain won the 9-ball Team Regional Championships and I returned to Las Vegas to compete in the National Team Championships in August 2007, our team didn't fair as well as I did individually, we placed 97th out of 216 teams.
In November 2007, Inside Pool Magazine did an article on my Northeast Championships and my accomplishments in Las Vegas. Some interesting stats I learned:
-I was the first to win both Northeast Singles Championships at one event
-I was one of the quickest to win a Northeast Championship (number of career matches played)
-I was one of the youngest to win a Northeast Championship (I was 23 at the time)
-I was only one of 13 people playing both 8 and 9-ball in the National Championships out of over 400.
-Of the 13 playing both, I was the youngest (then 24 and a few days, my birthday is April 23, the tournament started on the 26th I believe)
-Of the over 400 people at the Nationals, I was one of the 25 youngest.
-I made it further than anyone else has from our region in the Nationals, placing 5th in 8-ball and 9th in 9-ball.
I am still playing regularly three times a week and am qualified to return to the Northeast Regional Championships in March 20008 to once again compete in the 8-ball and 9-ball Singles Northeast Championships, looking for a repeat, another feat that I would be fortunate enough to be the first to do if I can. I want a National Championship! So Viva Las Vegas and let's get on ESPN :)

I'd like to meet:

-Other working Professionals in my area, key word being Professionals. Take your drama and fifth grade tactics elsewhere, business is business, and personal is a whole different world, learn to separate the two, and you'll be just fine. Burning bridges leaves you stuck on an island, the consequences of which are everlasting and reach far beyond the small fishbowl in the long run. Big fish in a small pond are still in a small pond and it's the ability to let go, move on, and be grown-up about it that give you the "swimming abilities" to be out there in the ocean.

-Leaders, not followers. You can't see much of the world if your view is blocked by the leader ahead of you and believe me, you get sick of the sight after a while. You gotta be Independent, really Independent, not just wear it on your sleeve, not just throw it out there like an "it" word. Independent is a chance you take to go out there without a safety net to catch you. It's a tight rope walk where you balance humility, honesty, talent, and drive to make to something of yourself.

-Artists, not amateurs.

-Geniuses, not delusions of Grandeur.

-Workers, not whiners.

-Visionaries, not Vindictive people.

-Heroes, not Hobbyists.

-Filmmakers, not fakers.

-Prodigies, not Pretenders.
