Upstate Independents (UI) is a not for profit organization consisting of filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, and other media artists based in the Capital Region of New York. With over 100 members, UI is the resource for Upstate, NY independent filmmakers, as well as filmmakers from Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut .
Upstate Independents meets the first Tuesday of every month at The Linda: WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio, 339 Central Avenue, Albany, NY from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Click here to view the Google map and get directions. It is a great opportunity to network with others who are interested in all aspects of film and television production. During the meetings we screen works from our members, so that they can receive constructive feedback to help their projects become even better! Not working on a current project? Many filmmakers announce future projects at meetings as an excellent opportunity to get involved!
We also hold programs geared towards helping you become better at your craft. Seminars on Working with Actors, Getting Maximum Scene Coverage, and How to Write a Shooting Script are just some of the exciting programs that have been presented at our meetings.
