Vanilla Project were born in the May of 2003 (at the time the moniker chosen was Vanilla Sky, it has been changed in a later stage because of issues with a band from Rome with the same name).
The aim of the members of the band was to bring Progressive Rock on stage, that prog rock with roots in the ‘70s, whose main exponents were English (King Crimson, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull) and Italian (PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Le Orme, Area, New Trolls).
Next to this genre the band also plays covers taken from a more hard rock repertoire, with songs by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Free, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Since 2003 Vanilla Project played more than 200 gigs in Italy and abroad, in the Czech Republic and in Germany, at the end of 2005 and in the first half of 2006. Vanilla Project also write their own songs; presently they are working on their first full length record (release date – late 2007).
